Don't know if they've solved the problems these had, but they used to suffer with premature bore failure. They also don't like being moved a short distance and switched off again....next time you go to start it, the camchain jumps its teeth with obvious horrendous consequences. All this relates to the V8, think the six is pretty reliable.

I used to work for a guy who had the six cylinder version, and apart from getting it nicked (returned within 24hrs due to tracker) he never had a problem with it in three years, unless you count it's ability to increase the point count on his licence. He did get f**k all for it at trade-in time though.
I personally only drove it once, but have to say I was mightily impressed with the way it went, but absolutely astounded by the way it managed to feel more like a sports car than nearly 2 tonnes of luxury barge

So this means if I buy one, before moving it from the drive to the garage I have to go for a long drive around the lanes in it? COOL.

Got an XK8 at home, fantastic. Completely different from the Scoob, put classic fm on & let every bugger in the world overtake me.
Great drive, great car & power if & when you need it.....
