Accord Type R/Octavia RS ?
Hello
My Dad is looking for something now he has sold his RX8. He has been looking for an Accord Type R but hasnt found any that have lowish mileage and the right price. Anyone know of any ?
Also he wants to look at the Octavia vRS, but again there dont seem to be many 2nd hand ones around at the moment (he says). Can anyone help ?

Hopefully picking up my ATR next week
I use to MY98 Scooby and one thing I noticed was how much nicer the interior is in a ATR.
From the hour long test drive I had the ATR is a great drive. Can't wait to pick it up

Don't know much about the Skodas I'm afraid.
However - had an ATR for nearly a year - T reg one in Pirates Black - superb cars - not got the torque of a scooby - certainly not low down anyway, however once they're in VTEC they're off .
Nice interiors and good build quality. Quite an underated car really, and I think they actually represent quite good value for money. Just watch out for cambelt tensioners going, the gearbox syncho 5th gear problem and stone chips on the bonnet (they used a funny paint which looks nice but chips easily).

A chipped Tavia has tonnes of low down torque. You can accelerate well in high gears from low speeds.
The choice of car would depend on the style of driving you prefer.

After going out in a friends vRS, I must say I was well impressed. Was as good a quality car as anything I've been in. Quiet, smooth and quick. FWD might get strained with more power as traction slips even wioth the standard 180bhp.
Top motor though.....just watch that depreciation though I fear.

I think my Dad has decided to go the Octavia route. He thinks that the VTEC engines will be a bit harsh to live with and prefers an engine with more low down torque.
Steve - got your PM, Dad is near Reading so says its too far away. He is going to speak to Fish Brothers today tho Then to Awesome GTI....

why not try the new accord type s ?? you can pick these up for less than £14k for an 03 and they are pretty much identical to the vrs in terms of performance. the vtec is not as frantic as the type r and the power deliveryis very linear and refined. very well sorted car imo hence i just bought one (£12,750 for an 03/52 with 20k miles)
no way as tuneable as the vrs but i don't mod my cars anyways so is not a problem.
