Mondeo ST200 traction control
Friend of mine has a Mondeo ST200, which he is currently fitting Nitrous to. Problem is it has a TCS on it, which if it cuts the fuel when the nitrous is on could mean bye bye car. So he's been trying to find out how the TCS works? If it cuts the fuel, retards the timing, or if it just holds the throttle?
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Jay

Runs off the ABS sensors, when it detects any wheel(s) spinning faster than the others it'll either cut fuel, retard the timing, apply brakes etc.

The mondeo TCS is engine based (pretty sure it cuts the fuel but not 100%), and very invasive, and I imagine a big problem if you are fitting N2O.
The button on the dash does turn it completely off, when the light is on the TCS system is off. You could wire up the nitrous system arming switch to the TCS switch so that the TCS was switched off when you arm the nitrous? Or use the power to the led in the switch like a window switch on the nitrous sytem so tha it won't fire unless the light is on? Other than that it may be possible to turn it off permanaently using a WDS system (the dealers diagnostic machine)

The TCS on mondeos uses the ABS brake sensors to detect if one of the driven wheels is going faster thn the other, when this happens, the brakes are applied to the faster wheel.
It was great fun in my V6 mondeo driving up hills in the snow, other people struggled to get traction, while in the mondeo, you just put the traction control on and set of in second gear so minimise wheel spin, the V6 engine has loads of useable torque so pulling away in second is not a problem

I would imagine this would be fuel or ignition and fuel controlled. If it was just timing contolled the unburnt fuel would destroy the cat.

I had a Mk1 mondeo V6 a few years ago. As said above, the TCS uses brakes and throttle below 30mph, and throttle above. ITSR it operated it by an actuator fitted in the throttle cable... ie there wasn't a total link between the accelerator pedal and the throttle.
What it did have that may interest your mate though was a switch to turn off the TCS if you wanted to... (don't know if it's still fitted to the later V6 models).
