Urgent Help Required - Advice on buying Prelude JDM 2.2 VTec J plate
Anyone had one of these, whats it like?
Handling, performance, fuel costs etc etc I've heard some have LSD's 4WS, how do I tell??
Also it 'clicks' from the front (assuming driveshaft, however owner says he has replaced so doesn't know what it is)?? Anyone have any ideas?
It also has a small oil leak coming from one of the bolts on the rocker cover, could this be anything else apart from a new washer/gasket for the bolt?
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers,
Al.

Hi, I took a J reg JDM vtec in chop some while ago, NO 4WS, however most have, if you can find an "Si" version it will poss have LSD and traction, recently sold an M reg with both.
There exc cars, good low down torque, and an extra push at 5k and above, good around corners, however 4WS takes a bit of getting used to as you'll oversteer to start with and poss clip a few curbs as you turn in, fuel consumption?, mid 20's I guess. Uk cars a cheaper to insure and only difference is push button A/C not elec climate, I have an N reg UK which is 197bhp so your not down on power on JDM cars, Cambelt change at 60k intervals important.............Manual cars are the ones to have obviously!

Not all have 4WS, there was a lightweight version BB4 or BB8 can't remember which, which has a lowish spec. Quite a long list of options which can make it quite a bit heavier, electric seats, airbags, traction etc.

jdm vtec are usually 2 wheel steer and have no lsd. there is a code on the door sticker that indicates lsd fitment (it was an expensive cost option so not many have it). most do not have traction control either. all jdm should have climate control and some may have a sunroof as well.
the clicking could be the knuckle joints between the steering rack and conrol arms as they tend to ware. the joints are £80 (each - there are 2) from honda and are not beyond a competent diy'er to fix. i had to replace one on my old 1993 jdm vtec.
i have a steering rack spare whih has one of these joints on (i think) and would part with it for £35 if you need the part.
