Ford Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 - Not Bad at All.
I was expecting nothing but adequate. The Mother-in Law is shopping for a new 2nd hand car and asked for some advice. Asked what she wanted. 3dr sporty reliable & British. OK the British part is a bit tenuous but I suggested the above mentioned car.
We took one for a test drive. A 2002 model. At low revs it was nothing special but the higher you climbed up the rev range the more responsive it got. Much more than I thought it would be. The 0-60 time is a reported poor 10.2 secs but it felt much quicker. The gear change was solid and easy. The steering was responsive. Very point and go. Would be lots of fun on the Devon/Cornish roads round here.
Is this car a bit of a sleeper? Yeah maybe, not heard much about it but if your looking for something similar, seriously take a look at one of these.

The Modeo, Focus, Puma and Ka (dunno about Fiesta, but Puma as above) all have reputations for putting a smile on your face with the right engine. Provided you're not expecting a giantkiller, you're usually pleasantly surprised.

I owned a Fiesta Zetec S from new for 3 years. Never had a problem with it. The only fault was both front suspension bushes started to split after about 2 years, a common problem on all pre 2002 models, but ford replaced them under warranty. Great little sporty cars, go round round-abouts like go-karts, good mpg and cheap insurance.
A good small car that is decently priced.

Actually, the Puma is based around the Fiesta's floorpan and gubbins though it does have a better rear beam
I like the Zetec S (and Puma and Focus and Ka!!), I had (still have but don't use it) a Fiesta si, they're very similar to the zetec and that was well cool!
