Hmm, unlikely to top 300bhp then....

the lack of turbos on these jap sports cars is getting worrying, the rx8, 350z and new supra (if and when finally released) are all slower than the cars they replaced, plus are less tuneable!!! a huge step backwards
toyotas flagship car might be on receiving end of many a whooping from it's old mk2 mr2 turbos

I couldn't care less if they had no Turbos...laggy pile of poop
Superchargers is the only ideal method of forced induction for road use.
I suppose without a straight 6 we can kiss bye bye to any dream of VVTLi valve gear (190bhp with 1.8...on a 3.0 six pot...300bhp no probs ). I expect 4 cams worth of fancy cam and valve bits will be too costly to manufacture on a V6 (plus more weight)

I beg to differ, maybe the Supra isnt worth £75k, but Toyota's are so ultra reliable, they should cost more than most other marques. I'd rather have a £75k Supra, than the similarly prices MG thing

I agree the front of the new Supra has a hint of 2000GT about it, but surely those headlights are illegal (not near enough to the corners -- this is why they changed the Landie and, I guess, the TR5->TR6).
My understanding, though, is that Toyota will release a new Supra when they win the F1 world championship.

A large company like Toyota can build and *try* to sell a 75k performance car/supercar and what not because they can afford the loss. Much like what Honda did, but only they believed they could sell an entry level "Ferrari" style supercar during the economic boom of the late 80s.
The "75k for a Toyota" reaction is harsh, but unfortunately true. Honda designed and built one of the most drivable, reliable, high quality and yet lightweight supercars in history, but because Honda has no image among the majority of likely buyers, it just won't sell.
