ABS!!!!
So i buy a brand new pug 307, great i think no worries for 3 yeards and nothing falling off for a while.
i come out of the gym last night and there is 2 inches of snow (in an hour).
i go have some fun on the car parks as you do in a controlled fashion then decide to tootle home.....
after fighting to get up a hill i cross the brow and see a queue of traffic, so i slow right down (10mph), i get about 100 yards from a wee modded fiesta and apply the brakes, nothing but judder, car goes sideways and i bump the fiesta ****!!!!
i am OK, she is OK but in hysterics coz she had a bad crash last year in the snow, there is no damage so i make sure she is OK and we agree to leave the insurers out.
take care kids!

That's abs for yer... a bleeding liability in most situations if you ask me. I can honestly say that after having it on cars for the last 6 years, it's got me into more **** than its got me out of - especially the bloody clio 172 - its got the most overactive abs I've ever had to deal with.

yip. i've only had this car for a month, and the worst thing about it is that when you do get on to a goo dbit of road and use the brakes as normal they are lethal coz they are so hot.
also, the pug has EBFD (electronic Brake Force Distribution) - again, fecking useless! it just locked all 4 wheels.

yeh it's fine so long as you have a bit of traction, but it just is a nightmare in the snow and ice.
ABS saved me from stacking a nearly new A4 into the back of a 309 on the M8 a few years ago. it has its uses.
i suppose the way to avoid things like this is to dump the car.
another 10cm forecast for today / tonight as well.

Well you could pull the fuse. Or next try braking to the point just before the ABS kicks in.
If all else fails...go out the ruts and into the soft stuff and go for the kurb
A knackered alloy is usually cheaper than a 3rd party claim Probably not the most approved of technique, but it has got me out of several potential bumps.
Key to snow and ice in any car is drive very very very slowely. 10-15mph maybe termed slow but it's far too fast for ice. Walking pace (less than 5mph) whilst going downhill is an absolute maximum speed you should do on sheer ice, and don't worry about the impatient fools queuing behind you

Not this time - some **** (out of my sight line) pulled out in front of a bus, bus did emergency stop - bloody brake lights and so my reaction time less than ideal
Hit middle pedal, abs kicks in, road wet and greasy, and I steer away from stuffing the bus right up the backside ...LOL...
