New Fabia with 200bhp??
#4
im not sure if these infos are true... the managment of VW/Audi has decided that Skoda will be the "cheapest" car of the VAG group aimed to people who cannot afford to buy VW and that it shouldnt interfere with VW sales... if they introduce 200hp Fabia, they would greatly endanger their Golf GTi and i doubt VW will allow this to happen... even if they introduce 200hp Fabia, it would be only limited edition IMHO...
i think that Fabia will stay with 1.9tdi (maybe they will later pump it somewhere to 150hp or so), the only car that will be allowed to have turbo-petrol is Octavia RS (2.0 TFSI) and maybe Superb, but not Fabia... Golf GTi is meant to be mainstream performance-hatch, with Audi A3 2.0TFSI as an more luxurious alternative...
but maybe im wrong and VAG will surprise us, we will see later...

Don't forget the VAG chassis, engines etc are featured in Seat/Skoda lines first. Fabia VRs 2002 - Polo Gt Tdi 2004, Leon 180T 2000 - Anniversory Golf 180T 2002. So a suprise may be on the cards????

1.8T does not feature in any future VAG product, if petrol it would more likely 2.0FSi...
However, the rumoured WRC RS edition is will most likely be the same formula as the octy WRC was, which was mechanically identical to the RS.
As for VW stopping Skoda treading on their toes.. when the new octy RS comes along with more power than the golf you will see how daft that statement is. (as they did last time also).
The brand snobs will still pay more for an inferior VW anyway.....

The New Octavia is built on the Golf chassis and it's said the the ne Octavia vRS will have a more powerfull version of the 2.0FSi Turbo than the Golf and maybe a 4X4 version.
Remember, until very much later, the old Golf 1.8T GTi had 150bhp and the Ovtavia vRS had 180bhp.
VAG have somewhat backtracked from that the above statement after giving increased funding for the Fabia WRC program and giving Skoda the green light to market cars on the WRC involvement.
Skoda is currently VAG's fastest growing mark that beats the other brands for customer satisfaction and reliability. It would be very silly for VAG to hold Skoda back.

OK guys, i talked to the guy and this "monster" Fabia is REAL they already have a couple of fully functional cars and are testing it
it is going to be a limited edition of only 1500 cars, maybe they will produce more later but its not probable. for now, 1500 is the final number...
it will have a standard full-aluminium 2.0 TFSI engine with 200hp/280Nm, 6-speed manual transmission and it will be 4WD via Haldex... and it should have a bit sportier styling then Fabia vRS, both exterior and interior
price should be somewhere around £15500 for the base model on the domestic market, but he was not sure, it all depends on Marketing Department... so you can expect a price of about £17000 in UK, maybe lower, maybe higher, dont know, depends on your taxes and other stuff...
and according to him, this little Fabia drives like mad
so maybe after all, Skoda is really going to surprise us, its pity that it will only be a limited edition

the release date is still unsure, the car is 99.9% ready and the production may start anytime, even tomorow... but i think they will delay it until the GENEVA AUTOSHOW
and whats most important, dont forget its only a limited edition of 1500pcs so it may be tricky to get your hands down on one of these cars
and price may be higher too
