Default Alternatives to a Forester?

We're looking at selling my girlfriends VW Polo and, sadly my WR1 due to a total lack of use of both cars and replacing them with a more sensible single car that I won't worry about leaving in a shopping centre car park!

The Forester seems the favourite choice at the moment as we would like a 4 wheel drive vehicle but I was wondering if anyone could recommend something else similar?

The forester's a nice car. Me dad's got one of those at the moment, and it's a nice drive. The model before was a nice one as well. Perhaps a bit on the thirsty side, but you can't have everything
Not sure that there's a great deal of nice cars in that bracket - volvo XC90's quite expensive, X3 looks odd (imo) etc....

Don't get a CRV though, as I'm told the interior's pretty nasty. Engine's probably ok though

I'd get the Forester

I'm with you on the X3, we might try the X5 though. Don't really want to go for a Honda as my future father in law works for them and there's normaly a good selection of Honda's parked outside his house over the course of a month!

Not sure if the Mistubishi Airtek officially got launched over here last year?
It was in the same vein as the Forester - 4x4 compact SUV with detuned EVO 240 bhp, but I think it only came with an auto box?

I'll have a look for one, although tbh i've not seen any over here.

She's booked a couple of test drives at the Volvo garage...

No, No, No, No, Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo DON`T SELL. Sell the VW yes, but put the money towards petrol or MODs for the wr1, if your only selling it because you don,t use it? simple answer use it more and if you don,t want to, then we will use it for you. You WILL NOT BE HAPPY WITH ANYTHING ELSE. Come and have a chat with Claire she thinks your mad for considering selling...

If I do sell? very tempted to come round and shake that sort of thinking out of you but a little scared of the dog. as for the something easy to park! it would have to be something smaller than a polo what about a smart as a second car, I hear you can change the panels if they become damaged in any way

Are you both going to the meet on the 12th ? would like to have a bit of a chat with you if you don`t mind, or if you don`t mind I could send you an e-mail.

I tried suggesting that one the other day but was told we're too young for a Legacy!

Not sure why we're going to the Volvo garage then...
