Question Honda Civic Type-R tuning companies

Hello.

After google has failed me, I'm after companies in the midlands/south that specialize (or atleast know their stuff) about Civic Type-R tuning.

Suspension, exhausts, filters, remapping etc etc so on.....

Does anybody know any companies - preferably with a website??

Thanks.

Could try ABP motorsports, they have an advert in the back of most issues of Evo and even have a dedicated CTR tuning section.
Dont have a web site at them moment.
Had my tracking done there

Imagine it would be expensive to get any worthwhile performance improvements? Do they sell supercharger kits?

Have a search for Spoon sports, they do Honda stuff.
There is a supercharger kit for thr CTR but the name evades me at the moment - might be comptech or something close

Have a look on http://civictype-r.co.uk/ and register for the forum - loads of good info there

Loads of info on there. Some of the cheaper kits, ie. K&N (and more expensive, ie. HKS ) suffer badly from heatsoak due to their positioning near the exhaust manifold. Mine sits down near the gearbox at the back, and is fed air from under the car. Ideally i was after the AEM V1 which sits down behind the front bumper, but you need to be very careful when driving in the wet not to drive through any puddles

Hello senior if I can help give me a shout, my husband also has a CTR that has been tuned by Abbey Motorsport with a Jackson racing supercharger, and Hondata K-Pro, they did a great job. Also CPL in Sheerness in Kent, Jakan Honda and System R (Paul really nice chap). These all will do a good job. Cover most things from Spoon, Mugen, Tanabe, AEM to Tein suspension and so on. From Cams to Forced induction.

As has been said go to the Type-R forum they are really a pretty helpfull and (mostly) down to earth bunch.

Have fun.

Emms said pretty much what I wanted to

System R are highly recommended but they are based in the north. Down South the most well known is probably CPL racing.

SAP I don't get you - can you ever make a decision?

You wanted a car that is useable everyday and could carry people to the 'Ring and be pretty good when actually on the 'Ring.

Started with an M3, then thought better of it and thought Vectra plus A N Other car, now you've gone CTR, which is ok. But why buy one to tune? They're expensive to tune and the results are great value. If you want something like that, that has uprated brakes, suspension, exhaust already, wouldn't you be better off with something like an STI 5 Type R that had already had it done? You could probably pick one up for less than the CTR anyway, and with a few "safety" tweaks for track, it'd absolutely murder a CTR on one (like for like of course)

Or you could get an 96 E36 M3, sort the brakes, sort the suspension and you've still got a better car.

You're an indecisive fvcker aren't ya?

PMSL...............

Here we go again.

It wont be long before he gets the hump on 'other marque' and throws his teddy out .......That will only leave him southern section and Insurance left to use ......

Sorry westy but I found it amusing

Scoob - don't want to own one.

M3 - Wicked motor, just expensive to run (compared to a.......)

...Civic Type-R.

Indecisive - yes.

How is it expensive to run, when you have to spend £000s on a CTR just to get it up to the performance of an M3?

And you'll lose £000s when you sell it.

Not gonna spend £000's to get performance up "to that of an M3", as a Civic will never perform like an M3. Totally different car and this was never my intention.

Civic Type-R's seem to maintain their value quite well compared to most other cars I've seen in a similar price range/performance category.

CTR insurance is sensible.

This thread was about tuning companies - not a thread about what car I want as that has well and truly bored me, and most likely you to.

Things like warranty, it's new (ish) etc is all good as I need to start saving for my own place.

Thread back on track now.

I would suggest you leave the car well alone ......Buy it and keep it standard. In fairness your not going to use it on the track that much so it will be a better asset in showroom form.
It will still be a very capable and fun car and you wont have to worry about loosing money on mods or changing them back when its time to sell it on.

As an alternative spend the £2K type R mod money on a 205gti for the track, dont insure or tax it and tow it behind the Civic. You get track fun without destroying your biggest asset.

The occasional ring trip wont kill the Type R either and mods wont make you quicker.....learning the track will.

I'd like to lower it. They look like mini MPV's otherwise!!!

Other than that, just an induction kit cos my old Prelude VTEC sounded excelent in VTEC with induction - a lovely howl.

So you've gone from wanting info on suspension, exhaust, induction and remapping, to an air filter and springs.

Do you have trouble getting up in the morning, deciding which side of the bed to get out of?

sheesh
