BTW its done 108k miles. Is that a lot for one of these?
Thanks

That model "E" class was built like a tank and well over-engineered. The six-cylinder motors do like their oil though so see what service history it comes with, and check for rattles, knocks etc from the motor. Check the oil for water, and water for oil.
Body should be straight, they don't rust very much apart from a little round the wheelarches and door edges.
I'd expect about 20mpg from it, a mate has a G-reg 230TE auto and he gets about 25mpg average.

Here's my Merc 230TE Auto.
Got this one 2 years ago, but had a 4dr Merc 230E before that. Both solid, fantastic motors.
OK, there's a few things not quite perfect (rust on nearside front wheelarch, rear wiper motor gone, driver door window motor gone), but more because these are not essentials for my current owning experience!
Still pretty rattle free, engine is sound, and can fit LOADS in the boot. One of the biggest estates around. Got 7 seats in mine too, which is sometimes handy. Mine has done around 150-200k (speedo was changed at some point, so not too convinced by the mileage but as with all cars of this age, the mileage on the clock ain't too important when it comes to buying).
Downside of the 4 cylinder 230TE is the 20-25mpg. The 300TE will probably be the same if not slightly worse![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I need something newer, but feel loath to get rid of what is a perfectly good car. Everyone loves it!
£1k is a probably a fair price for an H-reg today. I'd expect around £1k for mine if selling.
Not many 15 year old cars look this good

I got 25+mpg average from my 300E.
Engines in these are crackers. Whisper quiet, but with a massive roar when you open them up. Sport mode takes it to the red in every gear.
You can accumulate licence losing speeds in these very quickly and without realising it. The best car I've ever had for motorway runs.

The old Coupe I saw had alloys, they were like new, however my father in law has a 2 year old C class and his alloys are disentegrating, Mercedes have dropped the ball big time, the old E class is probably the most robust car ever made. Old boy on our road has one, G reg, looks new.
