Or maybe somebody on here can help.
2001 Toyota Celica....Alarm...pain in the ****!
It goes off as and when it please, can go for weeks ok. Then it'll go off repeatedly 3 nights in a row...usually at 3-5:00am![Mad](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/mad.gif)
Problem is sourced to the Microwave sensor...sensitivity was too high. I have since re-adjusted further and further until it is on minimum sensitivity...and it still goes off!
:
So now, the microwave sensor has been unplugged....peace![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
What I want to know is it a common problem? is there a TSB? and could I try and blag a new microwave sensor from toyota, even though the car is out of warrentee? Or maybe even the possibility of swapping it for ultrasonic sensors (more reliable IMO).
The alarm unit, although is a standard Toyota unit, is a retrofit fitted after the car was built - much like UK spec scoobies. Thing is, who makes it? There is no obvious markings on the unit execept for Toyota. If I knew the makers then maybe I could go to my old alarm supplier sources and get a cheap replacement microwave unit (if the blagging option doesn't work
).
TIA
