Standard exhaust and intake though. Wouldn't fancy changing the exhaust on a 540i, it's a full dual system with separate pipes for each bank! So standard it stays.
Have to admit I do like the look of the Monaro, who cares about the badge. As long as they didn't inherit the Vectra reliability standards though

I suppose if vauxhall brought out a 300bhp 4wd car with scoops & bulges everywhere for less than £20k then many would buy one who previously wouldn't have been seen dead in a Vauxhall.
hold on a sec......didn't Subaru do that about 9 years ago.....?

1) It's not a Vauxhall, it's a Holden with a Vauxhall badge on.
2) Vauxhall and Holden amongst others are all part of General Motors. Today's trivia question - name a famous Japanese car company who has strong ties with General Motors. Then tell me why the badge should be a problem.
3) Why do 4wd car owners assume their car is much faster than anything else because it has a better 0-60 time? I'd bet the only place e.g. a UK STi will beat the monaro in a drag race is off the line. Once rolling, especially in gear, I know where my money would be. "Round the twisties", the scoob might win a race, but I bet the big, powerful rwd car would be more fun if you can drive it well.
The scoob is a god car, but why do some owners have an inferiority complex and have to try and put down other cars that are different and in some areas better?
b.t.w. I'm a scoob owner, who would seriously consider a Monaro VXR.

Unfortunately Scoobs have very predictable sticky handling, theres nothing like coming out of a corner/roundabout with smoke pouring from the rear arches and a pair of black 11's marking your progress

Most of the people who brag about impreza 0-60 times can't launch it for **** hence not many people will achieve the quoted times.
You only need to look on the drag strips where clio cups are ahead by the end of 1st gear to work that 1 out.

Hi there i own an impreza, its a sport so doesnt get the burble that your turbo models get, but i regularly work on a jensen. This is just over 6 litres and is a v8, and believe me there really is NO comparison between the two. Especially at tick over, maybe your bmw is too refined. Go and listen to an american classic, thats a proper v8 and the sound is truly awesome. But before any one says anything the scoob lump sounds equally as nice.

Monaro VXR, Oh YES PLEASE. I've always loved the Holden HSV's.
To the chap with the 540. Get a Sports cat stainless system missing the silencers, get a Gruppe M carbon intake system. Your Beemer will sound

I bought this as my daily runaround, so would rather not be throwing cash at it tempting as it is. Besides I actually like the fact that the engine is almost inaudible unless you're gunning it... maybe I'm getting old (mid-20s crisis)

Oh yeah 540i as a runaround What's the weekend car? A Pagani Zonda...

Well mate you were right about that V8 sound! I didn't de-silence the 540, rather went and bought myself an 840Ci which has the 4.4 V8 but singing through a sports system as standard (these cars all have them - spot the 4 tailpipes a-la E39 M5).
Sounds fantastic when gunning it . Still very civilised on part throttle, even cruising at 90 in 6th gear on a private road the engine/exhaust is inaudible leaving only tyre noise (although that is pretty substantial with 265s on the back). Open it up and it's an awesome deep roar, very sports car like. My economy is sitting at 18 MPG according to the computer because I can't resist giving it a bit of stick all the time to hear it sing
Definitely fancy the idea of a Monaro in a few years time when the savage depreciation has taken its toll

i know this'll offend some people, but i'm sorry guys, a vauxhall is no more a womans car than a scooby, most of the scoobs i see are driven by women, a monaro is a lot more manly than a scoob, rwd is not as sissy and dull as 4wd, what about a vx220 turbo it's also a lot more manly, again with superb rwd handling.
and what makes a scoob such a up market car compared to a vauxhall? if a cars good it doesn't matter about the badge, the vx220 turbo is an awesome beast as well.

I think they're pretty good and its good to see Vauxhall finally bring some of the HSV stuff over here. Don't forget there's already loads of off the shelf engine modding stuff around for these cars - I'd imagine you could get more power quite easily

It was standard for about 7 days, then changed the manifold for a pair of stainless CAPA 4-1 headers, removed the cats and changed the entire exhaust for a 2.5" system. Changed the MAF and stuck on a carbon intake then took it to Abbey Motorsport and was very impressed.
Vauxhall (GM) deliberately detune the car so that it fits in the heirarchy i.e. Corvette - HSV - GTO etc but the engines are almost identical and are so easy to tune.
