I found the cab to be quite tight on leg room (but then i am 6ft4!) I did enjoy driving it though and it is practical loads of luggage space!
It's so practical my dad's looking at one as his next company car, it could be used as a family car no probs.
I don't think they are that heavy either due to the open back

Looked at the Mitsi and the Navava, drove both, then bought an Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max (bit of a mouthful, granted) and am very happy with it.
Approx 27mpg on average, and I drive it like the scoob

I bought a Navara double cab with a Snugtop top on the back about 10 weeks ago and am loving it
Does around 30 to the gallon, doesn't seem to change however i drive it and is great fun in the wet.
Guessing from your user name you may be into kiting like me. First weekend i had it loaded three buggies plus all the gear for 4 people for the day in the back with loads of room to spare
Something to consider is servicing costs ie hourly rate as most of these trucks are classed as comercials and need servicing every 6 months/6000 miles

Also bought a Navara about 8 weeks ago. Again 30mpg regardless.
Not sure about them being light? 2860kg without the back on and they weight about 150kg for a proper one
Absolutely brilliant to drive, loads of room apart from for the back seat passangers which is a bit tight. **** out action all the time, not to be driven in the wet while half asleep.
Note new Navara being released at the commercial vehicle show next weekend at the NEC

I used to have a L200 double cab pickup, very useful and capable vehicle. Great fun in the wet aswell, and good offroading. Expensive to run tho, servicing on post '03 models is every 9000miles, pre '03 is every 4500miles. Servicing labour rates are something like £70 per hour. They are also pretty thirsty, high teens to low twentys, especially if you start taking it offroading. Also had the use of the nissan nevara, which was a 3.0ltr diesel and chipped to 197bhp i think it was. Me and another bloke from work regualrly swapped our vehicles between each other for periods. I definately prefered the L200.

We had a Navara for about 4 months. It really was a very quick piece of kit.
If you go on Nissan's website there are some shots of the new Navara that is coming out in the summer. Now that is very nice.

I know a few people who bought them to avoid c/car tax (well reduce it as low as possible) but that is all about to change in 2007.
I have been in a few and they are fine for what they are, not fast, great handling compared to 'decent' cars but otherwise competant and very reliable.
30mpg seems pretty poor thou. I drive a Mitsi Galant V6 24v with 196BHP (petrol) which averages 28mpg with just a bit more performance.

I'm guessing that your mitsi doesn't weigh in excess of 2 tonnes though Paul, and have the aerodynamics of a garage with the door open
As far as I'm aware we're safe on the company car tax thing provided the vehicle is plated, which mine is.

I personally think the Nissan is a better vehicle. Looked at a few different ones (even the Ford Ranger thunder) and the Navara was the best.....the L200 interior is just what it is, a utility vehicle but inside the Nissan and Ford is a plush leather exec vehicle.
Didnt get any in the end......no way of avoiding VAT!!!!!!!!
