Pug 205 mintex 1166 pads
I'm looking to give the Mintex pads a try. The ferrodo DS2500's have always done the job but I fancy giving the 1166's a bash. The question is where can I get them from for £60 or less? If they are more than that then I wont bother, my ferrodo's only cost £45 so economy is important.
Any links or phone number would be appreciated.

Assuming you mean the 1144's, then they are £59 delivered from MSW:

No it def the 1166's which I was interested in. The 1144 is a fast road pad which isn't at its best when the brakes get hot. The 1166 is a race pad which is no good when cold put puts you through the windscreen when hot. Well thats the theory anyway.
Found my local factor will have a chat with him lunchtime but if any of you know anyone who does them cheap let me know please.

£133 is the best I can get so far. Not worth my while at those prices. I would rather have 3 sets of Ferrodo's to every one set of mintex and slightly worse breaking to be honest.

Have you tried Stockcar on here? He deals with Mintex and Pagid I believe..?
I use the 1166s in the rallycar (Nova with Astra 16v brakes and vented discs) and theyre astoundingly good when warm. You need decent rubber to get the best from them though and with decent rubber on dry tarmac you dont need much in the way of rear brakes as the rear can go very light as the front grips!

Thats the problem I find with the ds2500's. They bite so well that everything can get a bit locked up and the rear can twitch a little if not in a straight line. I think that in fairness these massively powerful expensive discs and pads are better suited to the heavy car world rather than the lightweight stuff.
Davyboy runs performance friction pads and i have say they are awesome on his 944 turbo. They really haul you up and the first time as a passenger its quite an un-nerving experience. I will look for a set of them on the scoob but the pug really doesnt need anything quite that major, especially at the price.

1155s would seem to be a good compromise. Although a "track" pad they have sufficient bite from cold for road use, providing your car is heavy enough. They were fine when I had the classic-shape Subaru at, what, 1260kg(?) but your Pug must be around 900kg so I'm not so sure.

For what its's worth i tried
1144 - pants, fade like ****
1155 - alot better but should have bedded them in before the first stage
(at Cadwell !!)
EBC Greens - pants, nothing left after one event
EBC Reds - better than the greens but not quite as good as the 1155's

It chewed the greens at an alarming rate, didn’t think they would get through the event !! 1155’s appeared to be about the best, quite decent from the off and held temperature and bite through out, felt a lot more confident with them.

ds2500's are worth a try if you havent already.
Davyboy runs performance friction pads in his 944 turbo and I have to say they are outstanding. I might try and bring some back when i go to the states in the next couple of weeks.

Unfortunately sold the car last year, still got to sort out the wheels and tyres to sell.
Had a lot of fun with the pug, it never let me down. Not always the quickest but always enjoyed ourselves.
Candwell first time out with the car before I sorted the suspension, running F2’s on the front and TB’s on the back I will never forget that stage as long as I live.

Mine lives at the 'ring' now, so gone are my friday afternoon and UK track days. Still I get to drive it once a month on the only piece of tarmac I really want to drive it on.
I agree whoe heartedly with your other comment, never the quickest but by god they are great fun and very rewarding.

True very true, came passed a red Audi S4 avant yesterday in manchester with one of the ring logo's on the back. Thought at the time must have a bash at it some day.
Who looks after you car, or is it in a lock up type of thing

It lives at a place called Ring Racing which is 5km from the track. Its basically the place where most cars used on the track go for repairs, new parts etc etc.
They have a storage facility which is stuffed to the rafters with porsche / bmw and other much much more expensive exotica. So I have no worries about the pug being pinched
Its just so much easier than trying to drag the old girl across europe once a month.
www.northloop.co.uk is my website if you havent already seen it and fancy watching my old girl in action.

The full circuit is ok but its still a flat featureless track.

True, but if you think a high proportion of the people who attend the “corporate” days have never driven anything slightly interesting or any where near the limit then are thrown into a Palmer Jaguar / Clio cup car etc then the lack of undulations is probably a good idea. You would not believe (or probably would) some of places people have ended up.
Still would like to take the Jaguar for a blast on the full circuit

So nobody rates EBC
I'm running EBC Drilling a grooved discs, with Green Stuff pads on my 1.9 205
Waht would you recommend I change the pads to for better braking with the EBC discs?? (car is a track toy)
Was going for 306 GTi-6 brakes but got ripped off on ebay!!!

In fairness miles your car will be a lightweight car already and unless your going in for serious competitive stuff it isnt worth spending loads on brakes. It dont take much to stop them anyway so std discs and some reasonable uprated pads will do the trick........
If your trying to eek 10th of seconds off then yeah go the whole hog, otherwise dont bother.
