Red face Just seen a Merc SLR....

....parked up at the side of a main road in North London. Car was on German plates and looked like it had just been dumped by the pavement

Can't believe it cost over 300k. Looked a bit like a chaved up SL

I'd like to have heard it running though

Im not a fan of these either - would much prefer a Lambo!

Whats with all the nice cars in London having German plates tho? I noticed this a couple of months back when I was there - saw a couple of new Lambo's, Ferrari F430 and a Mayback - all had German plates?!

Bought in Germany perhaps? A bloke at work got his XK8 in Germany & had it on German plates for a good six months afterwards... I have a vague idea that it was something to do with VAT saving.

Some thing to do with the Congestion charges and parking fines, dont think the gov follow up european plates, so i have heard? I think they are cracking down on it tho.

I saw Merc McLaren SLR, also on German plates at Stamford Bridge (Chelsea FC). It had been pimped - it had spinners on it.

See these all the time round here (work in Woking). Still see the odd Macca F1 which is nice.

I don't think drivers of Maybachs, Ferraris, Lamborghini's, SLR's etc. have gone to all that effort to save £5 a day on the congestion charge

Dracoro - I'm with you - congestion charge is peanuts when u are buying £300k cars - it's the bleeding Euro plate scooters that do that to avoid parking fines !!
