Basically a VW which is basically an Audi, which basically makes them quite cool.

Bloke I work with bought the 150 TDi Cupra. Very quick, and does over 600 miles per tank.

Personally, I'd have a leon rather than a golf.

I test drove a cupra TDI 150 thingy, and was well impressed with it for a car that runs on tractor juice.

Oh, and I know that's not really much help, as you're talking about the petrol model!

John.

They are excellent, had a leon one before the scoob. Very reliable and really hold their value.

Mt ex boss was called Leon, the thought of having his name plastered all over the back of a car I drove makes me shudder

Yep, but not quite as well made or reliable.

Seriously, the Leon uses the last Golf/Bora/Octavia/A3 platform and the 180bhp version of the VAG 1.8T petrol engine.
Only downside is the dull and lifeless steering, other than than a great car.

Cheers

IMHO Seat are the least desirable brand in the VW stable, and I think this is reflected in residual values which are generally poorer than VW/Skoda etc despite being very similar cars.

I had my Cupra R for two years & all the comments I received were all very postive - It held its value well (by new car standards that is) too losing just 25% over 2 years when I sold it late last year.

My brother has recently got himself a Leon Cupra R.

Looks great and goes well too! Especially with the REVO mod! It has surprised quite a few unsuspecting motors with its performance!

Ibiza is currently holding more value than the same Polo. What Car? issue July 2005. Sorry M8. Wifey is currently running a TDi Arosa 1.4 PD, scares Saxo VTR's and does 70 + mpg and only £80 odd quid Car Tax. Mega reliable. Bought it for £6999 on an 02 2nd hand just got £3999 P/X against a Ibiza Diesel. She still likes the Scoob though .

A friend of mine has a cupra r. They look nice and go really well.

All he has done is had a chip fitted and it unbelivably quick in the dry.

His brother is selling his civic type r to get one as he cant keep up with it so that gives you an idea of the performace of them.

i think you'll find that it's the TT engine in the cupra's 210 and the 225
i might be getting one next only with the REVO chip to 270bhp

LOL throw enough cash at anything and it can be made to go/handle well. A classic impreza with 450bhp would be nice HHmm who knows whats on the horizon. But back on track the Leon cupra is a decent car overall remap it for £500 upto 220-230bhp. Its a little lighter than a LCR so it should be quicker than a stnd LCR (225bhp one even).

My Ibiza only comes out once in a blue moon now.

Cool is in the eye of the beholder, and what does it matter anyway? They don't have a major image problem, and after that it is down to whether you like the drive.

IMHO I'd take a Seat or a Skoda over the equivalent VW or Audi - for the German cars, you're paying more for the image, with the Seat/Skoda, you often get more for your money. Obviously there are occassions where you can't do this (6 cylinder Leons/Octavias don't exist, for example)

They're alright.

Built as well as VWs and Audis but cheaper.

I've an Ibiza with a bit of poke and it handles and goes very well. Never gone wrong in the 39k I've had it and the dealers are pretty decent too.

Your usual bland car.

I've just bought a Leon TDi for the Wife. It's 'only' a 130 but it still feels reasonably swift.

The buld quality is great(far better than my '04 WRX), and IMO look so much better than the equivalent Golf/A3.

There are 6 cylinder Leons, they do a V6 4motion equivalent to the Golf. We just dont get them over here.

I had an Ibiza GTI 16v (wifes got it now) with a few mods it was a little monster, basically 185BHP in a polo ;-)

It's on a P plate and other than consumables (tyres and brake pads, lots of) i've never spent a penny on it. I think that they are actually better made than the VW's as they wanted to boost the image, any how they look a lot better than polo's and golf's, when i first got it everyone was commenting on how nice it looked and "what is it?". They were suitably uninpressed when i told them it was a Seat though!

Just gone from 6 years of Scoob ownership to a REVO'd Cupra R , Cool ? Well I like it , hence why I got it , but whether it's Cool , I don't know. Different people seem to like it more , I mean my mum likes it , she's a cool mum , but can a car that mums like be really cool? The hooded thugs from around here walk straight past it & if it's parked next to my brothers STI I doubt it even gets recognised! Which is a good thing sometimes..For me anyway.
Plus when I went to the bank to get the wedge to buy the Cupra , chose the till with the best looking girl sat behind it as you do & got a cheque made out. Clocking it was made out to a garage she asked what car I was getting , proudly I said 'A seat Leon ' Oh Right!!!!!!.......Don't think she thought it was cool!!!
