am i lacking in imagination?
right, had a 03 wrx since i bought it new in April 03 but getting ready to sell it now.
need a five door, fast, reliable car which is less than a couple of years old - but the only thing i can think of is a Leon Cupra R 225.
has to be 5 doors and gonna have a budget of about 15K. i'm hoping i can reduce insurance and fuel costs too.
any other sensible suggestions?

A "revo'd" Cupra TDi 150 is also superb. LOADS of power, cheap to insure and will do 600 miles per tank.
Like Dr Pepper, don't knock it til you try it.....
If you REALLY don't like that then a Cupra R sounds perfect.
You're not lacking imagination, you just want something decent, fast that's a little more grown up than a bwoooaarp chiiisshhiiing scoob.

The cupra R is probably the best car in your criteria, my dad has one and they are seriously good cars.
You can get a focus ST170 in a 5dr but it doesn't really compare.

It's also better looking than a Leon, especially in black, and a simple remap and zaust will see 230bhp and 38mpg on the motorway

personally think the leon looks better and that same remap would see 275bhp and 300 lb/ft of torque.

I have a REVO'd Cupra r, it does struggle to put it down in first but from then on its grin city. first port of call has to be the tyre fitter as the std pirellis are pants. fit some toyo's or F1's and your laughing.
225BHP and 209 Lb/Ft to 270 and 290 for £500 is a no brainer. getting between 25 and 30 mpg. steering is a bit vague is probably my only gripe. i get bored of cars quickly but cant see this one going anywhere soon.

Just checked out REVO website!!!
they will remap an A3 1.8T audi and it will take it over 200bhp for 500 quid and will probably out accelarate a standard S3 with it being lighter and fwd
seems a bargain to me!!!!!

yep, as someone said earlier, need a more sensible car now. test driving a Cupra 225 on Monday but most people say positive things about them.
probably won't want to mod it. i've done all my traffic light GP starts in the Imprezza, so now just want something quick when it's rolling.
i take it that the Leon is happy with super unleaded instead of Optimax?
The Octavia? I'd like to consider it but for some reason my mind won't let me.
Who knows though. Maybe I'll probably want another WRX in the future.
