306 GTi-6 - Bucket seats. HOW HIGH!?!?!?
Fitted 2 Cobra imola buckets in the Pug last week. Only just had a decent chance to play about with them. They seem bloody high!!
I'm not tall but with a lid my head will be near the ceiling!!!!
The guys I go to the 'ring with will be knackered trying to have passenger laps.
Any ideas?? It's the correct subfram and the seat is on it's lowest point on the rear mount, and second from lowest on front mount....

If the sub frame is the same cobra fit as mine then it bolts directly to the holes used for the standard subframe and the seat bolts driectly to that. I dont think it has height adjustment. The only thing to make sure of is that you pick up on the correct holes either side else the chair goes in on the pxss.
Maybe it has less head height than a 205 to start with though?

Looks as though the problem lies in the seat.
Cos it's the Diolen (solid frame) it's side mounted. So, there is a subframe, the bars that connect the subframe to the side mounts attached to the seat, the seat then sits on that. In essence there is too much ****e under the seat needed to fit it!!
If it was an underside mount, there would be n0o need for any of that rubbish except just the subframe itself.
Will have a look tonight.

Chop out the std mounting points then weld some bars/box section accross to fix the seats to. Its the only way to negate the headroom problem i'm afraid.
Heres how its done in the 205 - http://www.stockhatch.net/seatfitting/index.htm

Welding in bars is also the safest mounting for the seat.
I have seen many aftermarket seats fixed to the floor in an unsafe manner i.e. to a part of the floor which is not very solid.
If you have an "off" and hit something solid the seat could rip off and come loose with you strapped in.!!
Not a "just" job but could be a vital attention to detail.

Short of going down Dream Weavers route (which i can't as I'm off to the 'Ring on Friday) all else has failed I'm afraid!! Side mounted seats simply don't work in a Pug.
Monaco's have been ordered. I should recoup the money I spent on the Imola's and some.
Plus, they were too tight on my hips/****.

Fat boy .......
cheap and cheerful Monaco's do the trick for me. When you get them in put a bit of tape on the edge which your fat **** has to slide across when getting into the car. If you dont do that it will wear over time.

Corbeau Forza's are also worth a look for the wider ****
I fit in mine well enough and they are cheap on Ebay - got mine for £180 with frames and harnesses and they already havea leather patch on the side to stop wear.

Odd, I thought the Forza was a better seat - obviously I was mistaken.
A case of name snobbery. People see Cobra and think Max Power - well, as long as I'm cumfy that's all that matters.
