Can't live with a Bluefin'd Focus RS, either on Motorway, backroad, or anywhere for that matter. I know cos I had a RS, & been up against a few 330i's.
They do look nice cars though especially in that deep red colour.

I find that hard to be honest mate, i tatered one in my Audi 2.8 and he either backed off or run out of puff at 155mph and i know a 330Ci must be quicker.

Saying that m Audi was never the same again

Pretty quick. My brother had one for a while and I went out with him a couple of times in my MY99 UK turbo. On the move on open roads, there was very very little between us when we accelerated together above 30. If he caught me badly off-boost, I got wasted for a bit.

330ci has just 230bhp and 221ft/lbs torque, which aren't great figures for a fairly heavy coupe (1522kg)

They have a power to weight ratio of 154bhp/ton compared to 169bhp/ton for Focus RS which also has 229ft/lbs torque.

A better indication is perhaps 0-100mph times......

330ci - 16.6 seconds
RS - 14.9 seconds

In comparison, an STi PPP (similar price bracket to 330ci) has 207bhp/ton and hits 100mph in 12.9 seconds, so the 330ci is not as quick a car as one might think, even when rolling.

Still a nice exec coupe though, and a sweeeeeet straight six engine.

The limiter can be removed quite easily according to someone i know at BMW.

Having said that i would not expect the 330 to go much past 155.

Depends what your after. The 330Cs or sportspacks version are abit jiggly with the ride for my liking. The ci should be a bit more softer though.

The one thing you get over tinny rice burners and dustbins is luxuary and comfort, toys and superb handling. The only issues is with the traction control/ESC spoiling the fun and automatically backing off the throttle (fly by wire) when you turn (most people won't notice TBH), very irrtating if drive an auto version (not smg) as it'll also refuse to change gear whilst turning too. With the ESC turned off its a little twitchy at the rear, and naturally understeery, but oversteers when provoked.

Personally, I still think the E39 5 series has far better handling, road manners and driftability yet weighs the same if you have a 530, or 60kg heavier for a 535 and you have all those toy to play with

Did you see the new M5 on top gear a few weeks ago ? It had a button which would put it into sports mode and take it from 400bhp to 500bhp, or something like that. Very cool stuff. You could do with one of them switches on your Vaux Chavalier.....

There is no way a 2.8 Audi would ever beat a Focus RS. It has less power, and weights more. A RS weights 1278kg. Has 212bhp 237 lb ft. ( Bluefined 237bhp & 263 lb ft)
See Talizman's figures, they are correct. I had mine Bluefined aswell, which made it even faster still.
If you beat an RS, either he wasn't playing, or it was an ST (which are s**te)

There is alot more to cars than striaght line acceleration, irrelevent and inflated stats, 1/4 mile times, 0-60 etc.

It's all tosh. It's about driving the thing.

Bull****e stats are what 18yr olds base their purchases on, and what they use to justify their purchase.

Tough one that. The sport is nice and firm, but a little too stiff for roads where I live, whilst the standard can feel a bit too soft when pushing hard.

TBH I haven't driven both identical cars back to back, as the sport models I've driven were a 523 and 525d (ironically), whilst I driven the standard 528, 530, 540. but I presume the 530 sport isn't too far away from the 523/525d in terms of handling/ride.

Given the choice for driving I'd probably plump for the standard 530 and do a few tweeks like fitting the sports spec front control arms and opt for 16" or 17" wheels.

If it was purely based on looks I'd probably go for the sports spec though

I have to say I thought the 330ci was faster than it appears to be. I was behind one on Monday in my standard Fabia vRS, entering a dual carriageway - and I thought he would tear away from me - but in fact I stayed right behind him. He was pushing it too. Off a roundabout I initially closed the gap with him and then he pulled away a touch - but overall pretty equal - except the 330ci handled better and went round the next roundabout a fair bit faster than me, while my car understeered and squealed it's tyres and couldnt hold the same line as him !!!!

My Fabia does have more torque than him and is lighter I suppose. Still, it did surprise me.

Well i did!!! not saying the RS is not a faster car 'cos i know it is and by a lot but Audi's are very aearodynamic at speed and it hit an indicated 155mph whilst mr RS man backed right off. Not the dog in the fight, but the fight in the dog and i'm a f**kin rotweiller!!

More like you have seen one driving around your area and thought you would do a background check of its capabilities BEFORE you decide to give the person a race from the lights ! ! Unlike a certain person who had a S3 then went to a M3, and you still gave him what for on the road.......................
