Unhappy IS THIS NORMAL.

I have a 2.0L Golf GTI on a 51 plate,
On startup it kicks out a load of crap and its drinking oil like it cant get enough of the stuff.
It was fine until i put back box and induction kit on it. Any ideas as to what it could be??????

Is it blue smoke on start-up? Did it use any oil BEFORE adding the induction kit / making the changes?

If it blue-smokes under load then it's oil getting past the rings, try and have a mate follow you & describe what he sees. The VAG petrols can like to drink oil tho' -- IIR up to a litre every 600 miles is considered "normal"

It did use oil before the mods, but no where near as much as it does now. It is blue smoke.

Is there an engine breather pipe that should go into the factory airbox? Is it still fitted, or plugged up? A blocked breather could cause excessive consumption.

The other thing is to do a compression test on the cylinders .... the worst case is that some crap has got past the induction kit and scored a cylinder ...
