Default How quick Nissan 350Z ?

I,ve just encountered one and was quite suprised I managed to keep up.

Rolling start onto a slip road from about 15mph upto about 85-90mph (I backed off at this point as we were coming onto a dual carriageway, and I like my license).

The 350Z continued at very high speed but I was very suprised I could stay with him, My car is a MY01 classic shape turbo 4dr, no mods except for a prodrive back box. I revved it to 6000rpm and no more and thought it would pull at least a couple of cars away. And yes the 350Z was revving very hard even I could here it over the scooby!

I know scoobys arn't the quickest cars in the world but it did suprise me considering the BHP difference. Anyone know the 0-60 0-100 Qtr times etc.

heh heh, nice one
not sure of the 0-60 times, but a mate of mine has one...
we'd beat them off the line no worries.... but once you start getting into 100mph + territory i think they would have the edge.... but who cares at that point, i hardly ever go that fast..... its how quick you GET to that speed that counts!!

Test drove one before I bought my scooby and was less than impressed, was driving a modded ITR at the time and it felt noticably slower to me, 0-60 is quoted at 6.7 which is pretty slow for a "sports car" . Although the standard scooby was a lot slower than my modded ITR I bought it anyway knowing I could get big power easily, I always buy a car based on how easily you can get more power and the 350Z didnt have many mods available at the time, also had an interior out of my dads old nissan bluebird, LOL.

5.9 to 62MPH as quoted on Nissan's site. 3.5 V6...

Not sure on the 0-100 but i dont think it would be that different from a WRX!

no way does it do 0-100 in 10 secs its got 280 bhp. 0-60 is something like 5.7, the 1/4 and 100 dash covered in very nearly (as makes little difference) smae to the sti-ppp. funny theyre priced the same too

Talking

Few months back had one up my chuff (so to speak) along a road in Warriington, with one of my senior managers in my car. He was so close even my boss passed had noticed. I was in my MY99 Wagon Turbo, which just had decat and STI Panel filter at the time.
I refused to gun it along the single carriage way, after the roundabout it goes to a dual-carriageway, watched as he went into the outside lane and floored it. Couldn't resist, and ended up pulling away

Came to next roundabout and looked over, he was just staring ahead with a face like thunder. Just tickled me, him going back to Nissan and telling them he'd just been wasted by a little Jap estate car 8D

Still like the look of the 350Zs though.

Must have been a MAJOR problem with the car. Mine was averaging 25mpg on a mixed number of roads. Doesnt hit 100 in 10 secs.

Thumbs up

280bhp but 1600 kilos.... 5.5 to 60 manufacturer's estimate. Not as quick as a scooby but not slow either, and loads of rear wheel drive fun, good brakes despite the weight, and zero understeer on a track

Autocar is one of the few mags that actually publish 0-100 and in-gear figures for test cars.
For the 350z they got a time of 14.2 seconds for 0-100. Seeing as it weighs nearly 200kg more than the Subaru and only has 50-ish bhp more I wouldn't expect there to be much difference between them. (it's about 2 seconds on 0-100 times ) but I think the SS1/4 would be nearly the same.
You usually need a substantial power difference to make any noticeable difference on the road.
How close would a hard-driven Clio 182 be to a std WRX up to 100mph?

I raced one at santa pod when i had my 850 T5.

http://www.chesh.co.uk/santapodvids.htm

the guy was not too happy by the result - here.

I think they are great cars - and somewhere on the WWW is a vid of a Civic type R trying to keep up with one around some race track.......

Andy M3. Very nice to see our old scandinavian stuff showing that jap stuff a thing or two!

I have to admit i do like the exhaust note of the 350Z though.

I was in a fq300 at a set of traffic lights and one pulled up next to us with the loudest dumpy ever. we did not boot it but the 350 did and it totally fooked off. definatly had a big big tubo conversion tho.
