Talking I've been on ebay again - look what I got LOL

Picked this 1977 450SE up yesterday. It's only done 115k, I have MOTs going back to the mid 80s to show it's pukka.

All it needs is a new starter motor and some brake pads! 9 months' MOT and as good as the pics look. It drives like a dream with some serious grunt , and it makes a lovely noise from its V8 lump

I paid virtually nothing for it as the bloke selling it was desperate to get rid as he's skint and couldn't work out why it wouldn't start, and thought it would cost him £££ss to put right. I didn't have the heart to tell him it was just the starter motor so agreed that it was fooked as I handed over the cash. He even put a new battery in it for me - £40 notes out of his pocket.

No they haven't - it's in the boot

The bloke I bought it from removed it 'cos he lives in a **** area and didn't want the local kids nicking it.

How Much!!!! Flippin 'eck Exceptional for the year or is it? They were made so well and to last......It's a shame that Mercedes has stopped over engineering thier cars. Can't see too many of their recent vehicles lasting that long.

How many of these damn things do you have now? How did you move it from his property without letting on that you knew the cause of the non-starting?

I've got a 190e 2.6 that I'm using as my normal car. Also a 1977 250e as well as the one listed and a 1991 Jag XJ6 and a Seat Ibiza.

Starter motor works with a little knowledge and spanner work. I got the engine going on his drive after it had been standing for 3 months - much to his surprise. It does need replacing though - £40 from German/Swedish.

I prefer to call it a 'different' colour

It's actually not quite as violent on the eye in the flesh. It's violent on the juice though LOL.

Doh! Forgot to mention the integrated in-car communications system If that's GSM I'll be very surprised? Looks like an old Moto TACS phone, I think people are collecting those things these days so you might get something for it on eBay.

I think the blower's not quite the car's age, but certainly not GSM!

I really can't be arsed taking it out!! I'm stealing the front mats from it as they are genuine MB mats and cost a fortune

WHOOWHOO.

Got a right profit on the old girl

Bought for £165 and just sold her for a cheeky £600 without spending a penny on her other than petrol (£20) to get me home.

Nicely done

I do like the pattern of those seats though That **** next to the phone looks a bit out of place - Is it standard, or an 'upgrade..'?
