Smile M3 CSL again.

Can anybody post any vids of the car in action?

The last one posted would'nt work for me, and I missed the older ones

I keep reading so much about this car would love to see what the fuss is all about.I've tried registering on bm3w but for some reason it says 'you c'ant register with this email address'. Anybody know what thats all about?

Also do owners think the prices have levelled out ie more acceptable levels of depreciation now that its hit the £40k mark?

Many thanks, Deep

ps I have broadband

CSLMan should help you with bm3w.co.uk

Very good video on http://www.northloop.co.uk (not sure if the video link is working at the moment though)

Also, I have the full top gear Report on my website download area: http://www.nevetas.com/modules.php?n...ownload&cid=21

Hiya Knowsley

Nev, nice site mate! The northloop vids are'nt working, but saw the lap on your site. Cool!
Could'nt get the Top Gear one to work though, I'll try again later.

I've driven a std M3 SMG can someone tell me in a few sentences how does the CSL differ? Not the stuff I can read in mags, stats etc but real life stuff

The M3 is a luxury sports saloon, with leather seats and loads of toys. And also goes rather quick, it's a heavy powerful coupe / convertable.

The CSL is a car developed for track use, no toys, carbon interior, carbon roof, carbon bumper, carbon airbox. All this with Weight Saving in mind, it runs on semi slicks on light weight alloys. No Toys (you can spec aircon / radio / xenons / rain) but no electric seats, satnav, phone's etc etc.

Because of the weight saving the bhp/ton has gone up, because of the air intake the noise is amazing (as you can see from the vids).

Also with 1 press of a button, it becomes a fully Auto, meaning the 400 mile (ish) trip to Nurburgring with the g/f / wife and luggage in the car can be done with ease.

I really loved the M3, but the second I drove a CSL I knew I would buy one

I'm sure CSLMan will be able to explain the real differances much better, after all I've only had mine 3 weeks!

Thanks Nev.
More questions..
Is it better to get one specced with Xenons, rain sensor, park assist in terms of resale or will this put the enthusiast off? ie by adding the weight back on?

Also seen one advertised with Cup/road tyres. Is that desirable?

Deep

ps I presume an aftermkt sat nav is not a prob? I've got used to this now, d'ont think I could live without it

Air Con & Xenons are very desirable. The carbon Roof soakes up heat and makes the interior very hot. Also if no radio is speced you don't even get a wiring loom in the car if you ever wanted to add one in the future you cant. So I would say Air Con, Xenons and radio are musts. Unless you only plan on ever using it on track. Rain and PDC must people not really fussed.

When new some owners specced standard 19" M3 wheels with road tryes (they were worried about cup tyres in the wet), these wheels are heaveir than CSL wheels, so pointless IMO so this will again reduce price.

Aftermarket Sav Nav is no problem aslong as the car already has a radio. Personally I use Tom Tom I then take this out when not in use, like when on track.

There's also a M3 and CSL buying guide in this months copy of EVO.

On the BMW site there were 3 pages of CSL for sale, now there is only 1 page. Looks like I bought just at the right time!

Deep,

Drop me a PM on here with the details of your BM3W problem.

It could be your email address though - don't use stuff such as hotmail.com when registering, because they're blocked (too much SPAM).

PM me anyway.

CSL Man, I'll try with another email address and then pm if still no luck(yes I used hotmail)

Is there a problem with slicks in the wet? What happens when it snows??

Also is it true that BMW dropped the price when they did'nt sell? If so to what price?

Cheers, Deep

Most people have a 2nd set of wheel for winter.

If it rains just take it easy, drive sensibly.

If it snows stay at home and build a snowman

The Sapphire Black ones were basically the "BMW Bling Package", reserved for the minority who like to polish all day and then go for a crooze at 10mph through town
The Silver Grey ones are for drivers!
