What to get for £14k cash?
I've got £14,000 to spend on a car and honestly don't know what to get. Ideally whatever it is will be fast, comfortable and good for the odd track day as well as longish journeys.
Car's I've had in no particular order:
1997 STi V3 Type-R, 1994 WRX, 1999 RB5 WR-Sport, 1998 M3 Evolution, 1996 Mercedes E320, 2000 Ibiza Cupra, 1999 M5, 1999 Evo VI GSR plus various bits of crap.
I'm not 100% sure I actually get on with M-power BMW's, the M3 was nice but perhaps mine just wasn't right as it would sometimes cut out when hot etc plus the Vanos is always a concern with them.
As much as I love Impreza's and Evo's (sorely tempted to get another Evo or STi Impreza - although I think the Evo drove better ! ) I'm not sure I can stand worrying about leaving it anywhere and having little chavs try it on all of the time. Plus, as much as I hate to think about it, classic Impreza's do seem to be becoming the weapon of choice for the little t0553rs.
So, what would you get and why? Here are my current thoughts, admittedly some are not thinking with my head
BMW 330ci or 330d sport
Seat Leon Cupra R
Audi S3 or S4
New Renault Clio Trophy
Renault Clio V6
Mercedes E320 CDi
Mercedes AMG C43
Alfa Romeo GTV Cup

I reckon the Cupra would be the logical choice from your list in my opinion. You can find a pretty new one for that price, plus the remap and you've got the fastest car in that list (i think, not sure about C43 edit: and the S4 sorry).
Plus insurance isn't the worse, reliable etc.

the only niggle in my mind re: the Cupra is build quality. I know they're all VAG now but my Ibiza Cupra was brand new and that started to rattle and stuff after about 4,000 miles.

Add a grand and you can get a Jap Spec Blobeye 03 STI Impreza.
AMG for sheer class although the 330d I had for a while was chipped and stonkingly quick and still returned 500 miles to a tank!
Steer clear of the Alfa.
Hows things anyway Matt? Your M3 was a beauty, remember it well
Got an XK-R Jag now and it is fantastic

DC5 too similar to the EP3 (which I own) in my opinion. And I prefer the turbo delivery to ragging the **** outta the the Type R. Plus if you caught in low cam in a race your as good as dead. :/

How about an R33 Skyline GTR?
Hopefully that's what I'm going for next, can pick up a standard one for about £12,000.00 which leaves a couple of thousand for a few mods
This will hopefully be my next move once I've got the scoob fixed

heh, I know the E320 is an 'odd' trackday car and I obviously wouldn't use one - would be like taking a canal boat around the track
They are great cars tho...
I'm leaning toward the 330... any other thoughts?
