Default been out in a cossie

Dave cos 4x4 just popped round on his way home from getting his Escort Cossie mapped. took me out in it for a short blast, been a while since i've been in it. i know a car feels faster from in the passenger seat but FFS, that car is rapid. the thing stops just as quick aswell. loves his trackdays does Dave, a well sorted car m8. like i keep tellin' him its to hardcore for me i'll stick to me STi ppp for now, until warranty up maybe.

And they hold their money!
I love the Escort Cos. It was a toss-up between a secondhand one of those and my first Impreza back in '99 My son had a 4x4 Sapphire with 300brake (Power Engineering) at the time and with well over 300lbft torque would leave most Imprezas for dead in top gear.
It's sad that Ford have not taken up the Jap challenge and given us the Focus Cosworth.

i think Ford can be forgiven for this one though, most of the RS stable were or still are icons. imo. fords were the cars to have when i passed my test 1987-XR3i,XR2, RS2000, RS TURBO.

JohnD[/QUOTE]If my Cossie was anything to go by it was because Ford realised they couldn't make a car like a Cossie as reliable as the Japanese

had a sapphire rwd, 365 hp for 4 1/2 years. Awsome fun, only let me down once though (vecta immobiliser failed). Too old now though, rust is taking hold plus 3k for a decent rebuild....... Easier and cheaper to tune than the scoob though

Big shame, as he had the car well sorted and had worked hard on it since getting it after his Sapph went. Feel gutted for him.

i was standing next to the bridge when he went off, must say i thought (as did quiet a few more) he was driving like a complete t**t showing off for the crowd, at least nobody else was involved, sorry if this sounds harsh but other people could have been hurt

Couldn't agree more! When I was a kid, Cossies were THE "affordable" performance car to have. However, when I got to an age where I could drive, the japanese were getting their claws in on the performance market. Ford never seemed to respond. Result? My generation hanker after Japanese rally replicas....and rightly so!

Not producing a Focus Cosworth is just stupidity IMHO. Another generation are going to grow up thinking that if you want a decent affordable performance car, you have to turn to the land of the rising sun!

Obviously not. Having had his car "mapped" the previous day, a sane person would take things easy til they got used to whatever work was done on the car.

lol at some of the comments etc....

My fault and i'm paying the price but i will be back and will do the same again on track because thats the only place to do things i like to do in my car.

I don't do it on the road like some people etc...on the track where you can do it and get the most out of your car.

Dave.

Just glad you got out unscathed Dave. Any chance you'll get something sorted for Nat Day?
