I'd take the M5 personally For even more of a sleeper look you could get the Jag XJR which is supercharged I believe you can make some simple(ish) mods for more power as well as if 400bhp wasn't enough!!!

M5 feels faster
RS6 is faster
RS6 can be chipped even faster
RS6 can be bought in estate format
RS6 has 4wd (of a sort).
RS6 is dull.

You can't buy a new RS6 now, so you'll have to buy a M5, until the new V10 na RS6 appears........

RS6 for me. M5's are a bit naff now IMHO. Get a 535i, change the alloys, slap a M5 badge on the back and "Yeh, I have a M5 mate".
Plus the RS6 get all it's power down in all conditions, not just bone dry tarmac.

RS6 for the performance
(E39) M5 for Drivers satisfaction

(E60) M5 would just about have anything on the road now, and I would have this over the above two.

THAT one was a little bit modified! I'm not surprised it went up in flames.

RS6 has 4wd (of a sort).
Not sure I understand that statement ....RS6 has Torsen Diffs and is a 'proper' Quattro.

The guys at Evo magazine have it summed up wll. The RS6 always scores low for driver thrills when they're thrashing around Welsh mountain roads with a bunch of sportscars, but it's the first car that gets chosen when someone needs to drive 300 miles home without fuss.

My driving nowadays is more the 300 mile trip without fuss than the thrash for the hell of it, so I've taken the RS6....plus it's the only car in its class available both with 4wd and as an estate.

Gary.

Assuming you are talking about the E39 M5, then I'd take the RS6.

Its:
-better built;
-more durable;
-faster (due to the power and traction);
-has a better image;
-Looks fresh compared with the new A6, whereas the E39 looks like a dinosaur compared to the E60;
-is rarer;
-sounds like a Spitfire; and
-MOST IMPORTANTLY, you can upgrade them very very easily. 500+ bhp is a quick laptop programming and a chip change.

PS: M Schumacher, R Schumacher, Ross Brawn and JK all thought it was a better car than the M5 (seeing as they are all RS6 owners or ex-owners!)

Basically, the M5 could be the more involving track toy (being RWD and manual) but, in the real world, where most of us live, the RS6 (IMHO) is the better car whichever way you look at it.
