Default Escos vs P1

Not another one of those threads....
Getting itchy car feet again and cant decide what to go for next.
Escort Cossie or a P1 / Sti V ltd 555

Trying to weigh up the pros and cons of both got this far...

Escos Pros:
Rare
Highly Tuneable
Look Fantastic
Lots of nice examples about
Cons:
Expensive to buy
Old
Thieves/Jelous Tw@ts favourite target

P1 Pros:
Rare ( in a specials sense)
Fast from standard
Better prices than Escos
Newer
Cons:
Expensive to run
As above

The misses likes the Escos more I like the P1 more :|
Anyone had both? Lucky b`stards

Had a P1 for 4 years never had a escosth although i always wanted one when i was younger. If youre after the P1 you can pick up full history standard with subaru warranty still. The cosworths will be around 10 years old plus by now and wont have a manufacture warranty. Standard the P1 would win hands down IMHO

plus and extra 60bhp or there abouts more than the ecos and still allot newer.

ecos is still a very nice car mind

I would prefer the Escort Cosworth - the standard Cosworth looks a peach i think. The P1 has not done it for me like the 22B did - which would be my choice out of the 2. Or a STI 5 Type R i would have over a P1 ????

Personal preferance though - all great cars in there own right, but in 10-15 years time, picture the scene in the Pub chatting away talking about legendary cars - i think the Escort ownership would be a more memorable claim than the P1 ???

Or, to really tip the scales, how about a SKYLINE GTR??? If your looking at mint condition escos and P1's your budget must be £15k-20k. That should get you a tidy GTR with stupid performance and equally as rare as the escos

I would have thought an Escort Cossie would hold it's price far better, from what I've seen they all seem to be increasing in prices.

Are you going to use it as an everyday car.

if so, i would go for the P1.

Agree with Dave.
Everyday car..P1.
Almost every day car, i`d be struggling to choose between Sti and Esc Cos.

Skyline would be a push to fit in my garage
It wont be used everyday as I get a lift to work.
Budget 12k ish
Im swaying towards the P1 or similar the more I think about it.

That would count out an Escort cossie then, my mate searched a long time for one and ended up paying a lot more for a decent one. The ones round the 12k mark he looked at were all high mileage and well used.

For 12k your better off going for a type-r looking at current p1 prices.

That money will either get you a very tatty p1 or an immaculate type-r.

Know which I'd rather have.

Another vote for a V5 type r. Just better than a P1 IMHO and a cossie.
