Early VR4s (E39A) were essentially the same as Lancer Evolutions mechanically, with a four cylinder 4G63 engine. 320bhp seems like rather a lot though..... well over 100bhp more than it left the factory with.

100 bhp extra on a 6 bolt 4g63. "It is a huge amount to add to an ancient early type 4G63 engine and its highly unlikely"
having a laugh arnt you![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
The 6 bolt early 4G63's are more tunable and reliable(IE no crank walk) than the later 7 bolt Evo 1-3 4g63's.
stock engine will handle 400bhp.(differnat turbo obviously)
Vr4 rods are a cheap upgrade option for early evo users.
John Shepherd uses a 6bolt as far as I know.
Broke the world record for his class the other day(still 2L I think.standard chassis)1250kg
8.146@177mph 1/4
in car vid of a slower run here(still 170mph trap) http://www.shepracing.com/videos/9.3@177.5.wmv
