Default Audi S3 Buyers Guide - Urgent

Hello Gents,

My friend is looking at a Audi S3 on Sunday, he knows nothing about cars so I said I'd have a look for him, apart from looking for the obvious stuff is there anything else I should look for.

I know about the dodgy coil packs and that Audi did a recall and to look for suspect MAF problems.

As ever your help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

Go on www.audi-sport.net

I have had one for 2-3yrs now, the wheels are a nightmare as they are so soft they are always snagging on curbs etc, the rear washer is a problem, main thing to look for is a proper Audi Dealer service, as any none approved fluids used result in the service intervals dropping.

If you have any specific qu's PM me.

Rich

I had one for 6 months, sold it though.... very annoying trim rattles, bad back with the seats/seating position. Not a bad car if your 5'10" or less, and nice smooth economical engine. I was less than impressed with mine as a comfortable performance car!

LOL, I am between 5.8" and 5.9" and I find the seats very comfortable, just done a drive to Cornwall in mine and felt more refreshed on arriving than any other car I have driven/been in. Perhaps the height reference is valid?

Yes indeed, a freind had one... I liked it and got one myself. I found that everything was smaller in it, to make it look like a 5 seater car, as such, the seats where smaller and the leg support was short too.... this meant I had to sort of hold my legs in position subconsciously whilst driving, on a long journey this caused back ache.

The trim creaked and the dash rattled... this was one of the first S3's out BTW, so this may have changed. I liked its rear wheel bias though, had some good fun in it.

I'm 6'1....

Mines a 2002 model, no bother with rattly trim though.

Did the bottom seat squab not pull out and adjust on the car you had Andy ?

Get it re-mapped though, then you'll love it http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/driven/...rchips_s3.html
