You haven't done too bad.Sure it's the base model classic, a heavy estate and only a three cylinder 1.2l engine but at least it's a well made practicle car.
Imagine if you had a 240bhp Octavia vRS and you were given a Subaru Justy as a loan car.
Now that would be bad.
Cheers

When I picked my car up, the chap at the service desk told me that I should have been given a WRX as a courtesy car as I had taken an STi in

People keep forgetting these cars are called Courtesy Cars, not 'I have a divine right to the most expensive vehicle in the your stock' Cars.
If you don't like them, don't use them.

Its not the tiniest car in the world so at least you can lug some things about if you need to.
The thing about courtesy cars is it makes you realise how lucky you are that you own the car you do. I mean imagine being giving a 911/Fezza/Zonda/McClaren SLR to bomb around in, apart from costing you an arm and leg in petrol, going back to your own car would be a major trauma
At least its not a Lada...........

Also, look on the bright side: you get used to your cars performance and when you have to spend a bit of time in something else it reminds you just how good the Scooby is and when you get it back you'll appreciate it all the more.

Enjoy the excellent build quality and quietly-confident image of that whilst the chav-mobile is being serviced I say
I had to make do with a white/rust brown 1.0 Nissan Sunny with a 4" back-box a couple of years back when my car was in a garage getting a new turbo fitted - worst car Ive ever driven - I think boats handle better!

Worst courtesy I've had the displeasure of driving was an old Alfa 33 from an independent Itallian car specialist in High Wycombe. The car was a complete mess and smelt of old dogs, the seats had collapsed and were about supportive as a jumbo bath sponge, had idling problems and frequently cut out and the suspension was jelly.

I took my Volvo T5 in to the local Volvo specialist and they gave me a Volvo 340 GLT, no tax, probably no mot, smelt like a tramps trousers and covered in moss.
Best fun I have had in ages, overstreet city, bounced it off a kerb I got it so sideways !

When i first got an Impreza, 4 years ago, on its first service, they lent me a Subaru Vivio! This is a micro car with 796cc engine but youre still able to engage 4wd with a push button on the gearstick. Because it was so small and rare , i actually liked driving it for the day and even managed to get an old fridge in the back and take to the tip- could not fit it in the Impreza!

My mum got a Proton Satria 1.2 'Sport' when our WRX went in for a service. There were 4 of us in it, and 3 of us had to get out and help it up our 50m hill of a driveway!! The sportiest bit of it was the grey 'carbon fibre effect' dash. It didnt drive, it wallowed!
When our Volvo V70 D5 went in we got a Volvo S60 T5

Pulleyns always give me Skodas, i too have had 1.2 Fabia estates. They actually make me laugh theyre that gutless!! 90bhp diesel Octavias are painfully slow too!
Atleast you get back in the scoob and think ****!!!!!
I had a Fabia Elegance 1.4 TDi for 5 weeks when mine was in for repair the other year, and after a couple of weeks i actually came to like driving it! Was sorry to see it go, was a brand spanker with only few hundred on clock!

it never bothered me what car i was given when i took my impreza in for a service, you've only got the car for a few hours to get you home or to the local shops so what difference does it make what they give you. anything is better than sitting in the dealers reading magazines that are months old.

I'd pre-ordered a Celica 190 (when they first came out) for delivery on September 1st. However, they'd put back the release of the Celica by a few weeks - in the mean time I'd sold my car privately meanint that I'd have been without a car.
They gave me a brand new Corolla thing (the one that had lights like the bug eye) - was glad to see the back of it (nothing wrong with it, just wasn't me).
Wouldn't have accepted it if it was pink though... (Wouldn't want a ferrari if it was pink)
