Default Drift car recommendations please :)

Did my first drift day yesterday - the 535i we bought for £215 will possibly not take a second day like yesterday,

http://www.grandprixweekender.com/tr...ay%2005102005/

http://www.grandprixweekender.com/vi...updrifting.AVI

so we're going to need another car.

must (obviously) be rear wheel drive, have an LDS, be fairly powerful, and cost no more than about £300.

have been looking at Capri's, Senators, Monza's, other bm's etc etc- but has anyone got any more ideas?

lol, was that on the OP rally car circuit? Looks like it was good fun, although some of the kit looks to be worth more than £300!

How about

Or

that's the one Dave. one of the guys turned up in a 1 week old S65 AMG merc! too many electronics, and once you get it sideways it tightens the seatbelts to the point where you can't breath

I don't think I've ever laughed quite so much in my life, and all at less than about 20mph!

lol, so if the car doens't smack into something through lack of control, it will when you pass out through lack of oxygen.

Full day was £169. A couple of the trackday regulars came down in 944s and had loads of fun, but wished they had lsd's.

I found a Carlton gsi 12 valve good for this and is in your budget They have a nice lsd and can be a bit of a monster

In fact it was only an option (option 220) on the Club Sport, and did not even come as part of the M030 package.

I should also add that only later (250 bhp version) 944 Turbos, had those as standard.

You're proably not that bothered either way, but it doesn't hurt to have a geek every now and again

How about a mk1 mr2...you can find ones with real rust problems and high mileages for this sort of money. not the greatest drift car in my opinion as a tad unpowered (still great fun though) and the wheel base is a bit too short but it can be done. You can help matters by putting on some terrible cheap remould tyres at the back. He says with fond memories of hedge and wall brushing.

Nissan 200sx s13's don't but the s14's do.. however you really do need to spend some money whatever to be able to get a decent drifter

mid engined cars drift, you just need to apply a different technique.
I concur about the carlton as well, going to be doing the scumball rally in one.
May get it sideways a little bit when I'm there

is it ****e!
Approach the corner, lift off initiation, dial in opposite lock and then squeeze the accelerator to modulate the drift.
When you compare it to other techniques such as the feint or the shift lock, its definitely easier.
astraboy.

LOL come on, I can't be on my own here... Surely any mid-engined will be much less forgiving than a front-engined, rear-wheel drive car for drifting??
