cheap good fast cars
thinking of buying a cheap fast car, lookin at about 3k to spend but would push to 5k for a good car,
thinking rx7, pulsar's etc.
anyone else think of other cars around this mark? reliability is a good thing also.
thinking of a integra type r but for the money not that quick really

It's a MY93 Legacy single turbo fitted with a TD05, vos chip mapped for td05 running 16.5 psi, uprated clutch, full decat, induction, intake pipe, 4 pots, wrx suspension & interior and it cost me £3k to build. It should be pushing 290bhp with those mods now.

want something with good looks also, no offence ment.
what about integra type r? bit slow but thinking of moding to get similar performance as my wrx, would this cost much

If your stretching to 5k then forget about an RX7, you might be able to buy a dog for that money but you'll need to be spending mucho more (i.e. at least 3k) in the coming weeks to get it rebuilt. Theyre not unreliable just given a hard life theyre only worth about 60k miles and need expensive servicing every couple of months or couple of thousand miles.....
Any rex under 6k isnt going to last you very long IMO.
if I had 5k to spend and you want a car that looks good and goes fast I would, erm buy, well.... dunno really, Scoob would have to be on the list as for the money you cant get much better but there are a few things out there depending on what you like. How about a R32 or an Evo2/3? Maybe a tuned up 200sx S14?

cheers dave, think old scoobs dont look that good, thinkin 3 door coupe.
nissand 200 i also consider ugly,
ive had quite a few cars, lately, elise, leon, fto, zr and now scooby,
all the ideas are good though and i thought of them also, but want something i could keep and not get bored of, thats why i thought integra, but then the question is will it feel to slow? going from a 5,3 0-60 elise to 7 seconds type r

its not always bout straight line speed though, the integra is an awsome car int he handling department and how the power is delivered that should keep you entertained. if you have more money go with the RX7, a true drivers car but only do it if you can afford to keep it on the road..... (might even sell you mine but you'd need £8k )

the thing that appeals about a rx7 is the speed and handleing, like you say drivers car,
same as the elise, so much fun its unreal, even having no servo on the brakes made the car better etc,
but running costs again were annoying and reliability a question.
anyone had a supra

I know some moan about the 'hairdresser' image, but a Rev3 MR2 turbo with 240bhp as standard will give most things a run for its money. 300bhp is easily achievable without any sacrifice to reliability, driveability etc. Your money would get a T-bar turbo, so you get to go semi-topless. Could be worth a test drive.
I've had mine for nearly four years, which is a miracle for me. I had a modified Supra twin turbo to replace the MR2, but ended up selling the Supra and keeping the '2. I don't for a minute think that the '2 is better than the Supra, in fact the opposite. But I had spent quite a bit on the '2 and so its worth more to me than anyone else. Plus, you can have your fun in a '2 without losing your licence. I remember, in the Supra, taking off after Starship Impreza from these boards, looked down and I was doing 140mph before I realised (private road of course). Supras are geared to 180mph and it's very easy to reach silly speeds, especially if its modified. (Having said that, I WILL get another one soon, they are awesome !) But the MR2 Turbo is a great little car.
I also had a UK Integra Type-R and really enjoyed that too, but that was another car that you could get your jollies out of without exceeding the national limit by an obscene amount !
My MR2 is a weekend\friday car, is heavily modifed but on classic insurance, costs me less than £400 a year mods declared !!!
All the best
Matt
