Thinking of ridding the "money pit"
After 5 years of happy motoring I am considering getting rid of the scoob
After becoming a Dad a year ago the running costs are becoming a strain.
I am looking to rid the scoob and get a "fun" replacement for minimal outlay.
Any ideas, Clio 172, Intergra any suggestions welcome.

Depends what you want. The VAG diesel stuff is very good at keeping pace with Scoobies and cost pennies to run. You obviously miss out on traction, wet handling and the noise - but worthy. Or if you don't need to go that extream a Honda Integra might not be practical with a baby - but easily up there as a play thing. I have an odd suggestion. Try out an MG or two. Bargins can be had and the odd select model is still a hoot to drive.
Good luck.

What they have a bad reputation for reliability. I know they're French but I thought they were reaonable.
Was this just a bad example.

172s are awesome mate for the money! dont no why they arent reliable? only common faults are abs light coming on and centre section of exhaust rattling. They are similar pace to subarus too mate, you wont be dissapointed!

I would probably make adjustments to the 172 anyway, a result of owning a scooby I feel.
Skoda Vrs sounds ok, not yet looked into prices. I am just "thinking" at the mo, I just love the flat 4 sound.
