wonder how many times they re-did the test to give them the result they wanted... still, the 6 looks a lot better, the 8 & 9 look dreadful imo... especially the 8!

It was also a standard 320 and not the 340 version which has the Ecutek re flashed ecu which is about 350 ish bhp and would have had the legs on the 6.Evolution is what it's all about.

Looked like the E6 was running an angled exit exhaust, possibly a Nur Spec.... If its a Jap Import, then it may have had a few things modified before coming over, I very much doubt that 5th Gear were aware of the changes either.

True but would she have said anything if she knew.... or rather, would the people behind the scene's have considered it a big enough problem to source another clean E6 for recording.

Absolutely spot on, it was an improvement over the previous series, but still nowhere near the quality of Top Gear..... IMO.
dtriggs, I thought they said it was a Japanese Imported car.... and that it was being returned to an Import Company for a full check before being given to the winner of the competition??

Well they have given it to xtreme to check it out and apparently it has had an exhaust tinker.. we will know more come the weekend...
Think of it this way... I have driven the 320 evo 9 + i own one now to.. The one i drove felt very held back.. Mine also feels slightly guttless atm + there is alot of potential there otherwise i wouldnt have bought it... The handling is very very good and its leeps and bounds of my previous 7 FQ300.. the lack of power feel is IMO down to the CAT and air filter on the 9.. Once these are changed everything should light up + with the added top end mivic .. If the 6 had a straight through exhaust and filter then both cars are running similar power.. Dont forget that the Evo 9 is only running 1.2 bar (apparently) whereas the 7's and 8's are running closer to 1.4-1.5bar..

I dont think they needed to edit/ redo the race to get the result they wanted.
The "ghost" lap showed she didnt bother to drive on the same piece of tarmac with both cars. (Probably because shes not the driver her fans think she is!)

What was the difference anyway? Marginal, IIRC. I bet if she'd done another lap in either car the times would have been different. I think they (Mitsubishi) would need to evolve the laws of physics to make the cars much faster, given the 6 as a starting block, and having emissions, safety etc as restricting factors.
If the 6 had been miles faster, then sure, it might have ruffled a few feathers. As it is, I can't see what the fuss is about.
And as for their race against an F1 car... Tiff's obviously not viewed any of Clarkson's tapes, or he'd have seen the race with the Cougar, Focus WRC and F1 at Silverstone. First time my ar$e.

McLaren have also done a F1 car vs. road car contest at Silverstone (was shown as part of the ITV F1 show iirc) starting off with an A class, then AMG Merc to finally DC in the F1 car.

anyway, it wasn't much of a race!
i thought the EVo FQ400 vs Lambo on Top Gear repeats was more interesting (at least you could see both cars on the same screen)

deffo not a standard exhaust ,
looks like as someone said a early nur spec , what some people forget also is that some of the uk 9's are only 260 bhp ,with the VI's if you sort out the exhaust ,de-cat ,filter and uprate the fuel pump the fuel cut is at 1.32 bar the evo VI running 1.3 bar just under with a good set up can run as much as 370 bhp, with a rally art ecu and a good map even more ,
they are just so tunable ,standard boost for the VI is a bar 14 psi, and most make more than manufactures figures anyway ,
cheers

I'm a little confused. Even if it had an aftermarket exhaust thats hardly going to add 50 BHP is it? In which case we haven't got very far over 7 years have we?
If we believe it was all a set up thats a different matter. I'm not quite sure why they would set up such a result though

if the ecu was changed and the fuel pump uprated ( in tank ) , air box aftermarket filter say k&n and the boost turned up no one would know as these arn't obvious things, the ecu is behind the passenger air bag and the fuel pump is in the tank ,and the contents of the airbox is hidden so yes you could potentially look to just have an exhaust and get 50 bhp or even as much as 100 bhp , and as its possably an import most have aftermarket boost controllers / fuel cut defenders as well ,
its no way as obvious if you want to hide modifications
and it would be real quick too
cheers

Were there any close up shots of someone in the Evo 6? I didn't think so... It was obviously a remote controlled car, on a scaled circuit... It was a fix I tell yee, a fix....!!

She was hardly pushing either car properly.
How the hell can you push a car to the limit and still pout and talk sh1te? I drive my 20yr old merc harder than she was pushing either of those cars.
