Default 330d R/R'd Tonight

.....just thought I'd share in the surprise that I felt after getting the results from a R/R Evening that I took the BMW along to tonight.

233.5bhp and 322lb/ft

Car is a MY05 330d Cabrio, 4k miles and completely standard. Bought from a Dealership about a month ago.

Cheers,
Grant

And you believe them ???

My Cooper S made 243hp and a 190lb/ft on AmD's rollers and its nowhere near that probably 210/220, good for bragging in the pub but rolling road figures IMO should be taken with a pinch of salt, probably ok for testing different mods but for a proper figure get it on a Dyno..

Unless uknown to you it's been chipped

Figures arent to unbelievable. Standard 330d of that age kicks out 218bhp and about 320lb/ft i thought. Got a funny feeling the 3 series was maybe detuned slightly like the A4 was in comparison to the A6 but still seems plausable.

I had a 52 plate A4 2.5tdi that produced 220bhp, was chipped like, but it still was not fast. Torquey as hell though.

I did say ' i thought ' and then also mentioned that the figures i posted may be for the 5 series. Dont just quote parts of my thread.

Maybe it was chipped. Even bought from a dealer. Dealers also chip their cars. Audi get their demonstraters chipped at star performance.

So that's why the drivers don't use them - scared of getting laughed at!

Yea, that must be it..

I thought it was slightly optomistic, have absolutely no idea about whether or not its re-mapped. It was owned by a Scotland Footballer before us, suppose I could go to his Fanclub and ask him though.

thats good power from a diesel man, and torque that a lot of subbaru owners would be proud of!

Grant,

Good figures. Speaking to the boys at Van Aaken, and they have never had a 330d that hasn't been more powerful than manufacturers figures. I'd believe the torque figure, but the bhp figure is possibly a little high. Mine was going like a train today in the cold damp air, so that couls have something to do with it.

For comparison purposes, most chips will give you 240-250bhp and 380-415ft/lbs, so yours appears to be a healthy standard car.

Never had mine on the rollers, but it might be worth it as a comparison.

All the best
Matt

Maybe the tester was intimidated by the badge so gave you a higher figure

Car used to belong to Gary O'Connor, Hibs.

Was at Star in Kirkcaldy, was an organised R/R Evening... Had been thinking about a Steptronic BMW and they said they wouldnt have been a problem to run either.

Got told about a 535d that recently ran on their rollers, made something like 560ft/lb and I cant remember the BHP, but I'm pretty sure it started with a 3.

Grant

Yes, like a train.... all the time!! I'm extremely impressed with the overall package of our car, despite being a lardy Cabrio it still pulls very cleanly.

LOL!! I had a word in his shell-like, just made sure that he understood that my car would be making over 310ft/lb.

Grant,

Might be tricky, as I'm due to sell it tomorrow! However, I'll try and persuade the future owner that it must be done.

Nope! But it is 6 cylinder and normally aspirated! I've gone for a year old M3 with all the toys. Same colour inside and out as my 330d, so hopefully not too many peoiple will notice! LOL

I'm going to miss the 330d, but can always get another one (would be my 4th) if the M3 doesn't work out!

I'll post some pics over the weekend.
