Default Buying high Mileage BMW 318

I am thinking of getting rid of the scoob

I have found a nice 52 Plate 318 Convertible....(i know, hairdressers car)

The Beemer is £14995 but is has done 66k, in its defence, it has full BMW service history and has had 1 owner

I do about 20k miles a year so it wont be long till my Y plate UK300 is at that mileage....

Any thoughts ??

318 is gutless in any form, being the puny 4 cylinder lump. My boss had a 318 convertible and that was even slower due to the extra weight for strengthening.
Minimum you want is the 6 cylinder 2.0 litre.

NOT a good buy......330 sport can be had for a grand more......318s are totally gutless, and the conv is a heavy car, so 318 will be soo slow, and thirsty too...

66k is not a lot for a beemer, but a lot for the age........go for at least a 320, but try to go fot a 330 manual sport (Ive got a 330 ci sport auto conv)

How can you call a 318i thirsty and recommend a 330 in the same breath?

Not if you don't mind driving slowly. You prob wouldn't look at a 318 if performance was at the top of your agenda

That sounds like it would be painfully slow!!

I drove a mates E36 318is the other day, and i was ridiculously gutless. I imagine the E46 conv would be even worse! Performance might not be top of the agenda, but surely it would be nice to have something with some guts!?! lol!

Forget guts, a 318 conv will struggle to move the heavy e46 convertible....its a common myth that big engine cars are thirsty whilst small weedy engines are frugal.....
