New BMW 2.0D - warranty-friendly chip?
Title says it all really. If I got a new BMW 2.0 diesel, does anyone offer warranty-friendly chips or remaps? In which case, how much BHP for how much wonga?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I know of the 330d thanks. Problem is, base price of 3.0d is 64k here, base price of 2.0d is 48k (X3). I was looking at the 330d, but wife has said she wants a higher driving position, and I don't see the point in having such power in a high vehicle, I certainly won't attack corners with confidence. I'm also wondering about fuel consumption - it won't be very nice in a big brick. So I thought I'd stick to the 2.0, tweak it if necessary (extra 20-30 won't go amiss) and that'll do fine. I'll just get thrills from a different car (when I'm retired LOL).

You could also try one of the better brands of tuning box (van Aaken, etc) which are warranty-friendly by virtue of being removable at service time
They may not be as "tailor-made" as a map but certainly the VA / Eastcoast boxes can be tweaked for more power if you need by using internal jumpers.
Also you can flog 'em when you sell the car.

OK, AC Schnitzer seem to have just released something about a month ago:
"As for all current BMW models with 2.0d engine (M47 D20 TU) AC Schnitzer also offers diesel performance upgrade for the 3-series Touring. An extra control module provides a total of 147 kW / 200 HP and 400 Nm maximum torque (standard figures are 120 kW / 163 HP and 340 Nm) and at the same time the top speed climbs from 218 km/h to 228 km/h, and the sprint from 0 - 100 km/h takes just 8.4 seconds instead of 8.8."
I'll sort of assume that's warranty-friendly.
I think 200hp would be OK for the moment

As someone mentioned the add on tuning boxes are a good idea. 'Tune it' do one. You can find them on the internet. Just take box out at service time they will never know plus you can take box to next car or sell it.
