Red face SEX!!! - FORD PUMA - SEX!!!

Thought that would get your attention!!! The wifes rear wiper on her Ford Puma has started working intermittently. Any ideas? I think it could be dirty contacts (will sand them tomorow) or a faulty switch on the steering column. Anyone else solved similair problems? I seem to remember that my Mums old Ford Escort did the same thing and I though that was the switch.

I had a Fiesta and a Puma, they both IIRC had the same rear wiper motor, and the one in the Fiesta wouldn't park properly. A used motor from Mitchells Vehicle dismantling did the job, but yours may be a different problem.

Does the Puma utilise the same electrical contacts that the Fiesta does, on the tailgate, so that the wipers/washers only work when closed?

If so, my money is on grubby contacts

Those pesky copper contacts strike again (bottom right corner on the edge of the boot)

Give them a clean with some brasso or wire wool so they are nice and shiny....clean the pins on the boot lid too

I rang the ford customer line the other day due to an issue with our focus. On the answering machine, there is a message about wipers, although never really listened to it. May be worth ringing their customer relations number to see what it says. May be an issue thay will sort out for you.

Seeing they've been using the same style contacts across the range since 1990, you'd think they'd have sorted them out by now

And yes, the back wiper on my old Escort had a mind of it's own...and the g/f's KA and the Fiesta belonging to the g/f before her
