to let the oil temp cool down! It was reading 150C.
That doesn't sound good!!
0-60 and he demolished me 0-100mph and the sti was a good few lengths in front 0-130mph was even stevens
So the Sti type R is faster in real word speeds than a Cupra R with Nitrous then? I'm also guessing its oil temp was not 150C!!
No need for a flame war me thinks!

One of the only few things I liked about my Revo'd LCR was the in-gear acceleration.
Never ever inspired confidence to push on B-Roads.
LOVED the look of the car though, still do.

I could well believe a 150C oil temp, on my last car the oil temp gauge read like a speedo above 100, although it wasn't working the time I did do 150, it did read 130C at 130mph on a previous occaision.

I have to say that the Leon sounds like a giggle though! I'm actually a fan of the Cupra R, fine cars, the pick of the VW hot hatch brigade if you ask me.

Horses for courses really...cupra been modified quite a bit
You throw some money at a standard Type-R and im sure it would be a different story altogether.
Would I own a Cupra-R.............you betcha best looking hot hatch out there.
Good read

But how regularly can u use the Nitrous ? Surely it's not for every lights pull away ? So it's a bit false. I think it's impressive the Sti did that well against such a tuned beast.

Its the same with any car you get. They usually have a negative image portrayed by some. Feel sorry or me; I drive a saxo vts! Cracking little car, but I do get sick of the image sometimes. Drive the Scooby with pride, it's such a good car and most people would have one over any Seat.

So you're saying that 0-100 is irrelevant for everyday driving
The STi kicked won up to speeds that matter.
What this thread demonstrates that even a car that is not exactly slow in the first place with nitros still can't catch a std Sti Type R till 130+ and doesn't show a demonstrable advantage till 100+mph. All this from a car that can do that comes with a 3yr warranty (in Japan) and will deliver that degree of performance all the time. How long will the Leon last with nitros.....not anywhere near as long I'd suggest.
Merry xmas all.
