Most recent BMW M5
Finally came across one on the motorway today and I was extremely impressed with how quick it is. I was on my GSXR 750 and as I came up behind him with a clear motorway in front he went for it (I did not bait him - he obviously didn't want to pull over) and not wanting to dissapoint him I followed I think he actually thought he would lose me which he didn't however at rolling on in top gear we were probably equal in acceleration upto a very silly speed, he didn't pull away and I wasn't pulling up to his rear bumper and then he pulled over and eased off as I shot past and gave him the thumbs up That I was very impressed with for such a heavy un-aerodynamic car. Thats the fastest 4 door family saloon i've come across If my lottery numbers ever come up thats first on the list for family shopping trolley

More like he was pressing every button trying to find more power
Didn't Top Gear say recently the M5 is as quick as the new 911 in a straight line? For something that can carry 4-5 people in luxury, go that fast and still be cheaper than the 911 is a pretty impressive feat for BMW.

The new M5 is very impressive. You can change the power output of it to, wonder which he was in. There's either 400bhp or by changing a few settings you can run it at 507bhp!!

Just been looking at them on the web, you can de-restrict them to 205 mph!!!!! I can safely say the one I played with was restricted and just as well otherwise I would have been well and truly spanked with my paltry top end of 165 Right time to get a Hayabusa and join the 200mph club just in case ready for next time

If straight line grunt is your bag then the M5/6 will do nicely, throw in some bends & as Top Gear proved, a standard 997 Carrera S whipped an M6 accross country, and an M6 has the same engine but is lighter than an M5, so a little faster.
Remember an M5 might have 501bhp, but it also weighs 1821kg so quite a heavyweight, making its power to weight not that impressive. Not surprised an F430 beat it.

Anybody seen the new Jeremy Clarkson dvd with the new BMW M5 v Ferrari F430 in a race, I really thought the M5 would have beaten the Ferrari!

Problem is the majority of Bikers are one trick ponies they like to prove they are faster on the straights ( not exactly hard now is it ) but heaven forbid them trying to corner at speed, no chance.

Just like all beamers - absolutely useless in the snow (except the SUV's)

I caught up with a mate in Zurich recently and he runs a Merc SL500. We got caught out in the first snow of the season with his summer tyres on. On the way back from the club he was really struggling to keep it all together and we must have seen 4 or 5 accidents on the way home. He dropped me off at the hotel and then rang 20 minutes later to say that his car had given up the ghost trying to get up a 1 in 25 hill.
He picked me up the next morning to go and see a customer having been rescued and had his winter tyres put on - what a difference. Absolutely unbelievable!
Cheers
