I like that alot, looks very aggressive. Wouldnt have it in yellow though.
Love the wheels.
Any idea on price? Surely wont be more than the Golf GTi?? Im guessing at circa 16k? Putting it on par with the Focus ST?

it's got the same amount of power as the last one, but the engine is the 2.2 unit out of the accord type r.
They have used this to give it more torque through thr rev range.

yeah 2.2 engine should give it more grunt but cant see it being a whole lot more, will have to be no more than 18k especially if its as badly specced as the original.
Doubt it'll have those brakes when it hits production!!

Everything is speculation at the moment I think...
...but the rumour mill is saying either of the following...
(a) It'll use the existing 2.0 lump with tweaks.
(b) It'll have the 2.2
(c) It'll use the 2.0 lump and the Type-RR will use the 2.4
Both brakes and wheels will probably not end up on the road version.
I suppose the next main questions to be asked /answered is Price and power, regardless of the engine.
Oh and its out in Jan 07

Having had a Prelude with the H22A series engine and driven a CTR i know which engine i prefer and i'd love to see it brough back for a new CTR.

I am a big fan of the CTR, had one for 2 years. At the time (2001?) it was the fastest hot hatch and was the one most people wanted. Now we have the Astra VXR, Focus ST and Leon Cupra R. The new CTR will have to be special... I hope!

The engine in the new car will not be the 2.2. It is a slightly updated version of the current engine the K20 (K20Z1) putting out around 215 bhp. The 2.2 just does not fit the 'R' ethos. Is not revvy enough. The main focus of the new R is chassis based, to increase driver feedback and make the car even more focused (no pun intended). Nice to see a manufacturer not going for headline grabbing power figures for a change, and making something more realistic.
As for that render in the pics, well we will have to wait and see when the concept is released online on the 28th
