Nissan Pulsar GTI-r
Got a m8 with a 300bhp pulsar. The problem is he kills my scoob as i only have a uk turbo 2000 Wondering what brake horse i need to beat him Is it right that a scoob has to have 60 brake more than a pulsar to beat it?
Cheers

Look at the power/torque to weight ratios, and bare in mind that AWD means off line advantage that even some more powerful FWD/RWD cars won't be able to recoup over the 1/4 mile!

You could weight save, and just do the usual if the IC allows.
Exhaustand de-cat. there are plenty to be had on here. Then i would say upgrade the pads at least if not the discs. You have to make sure you can stop the car before taking performance further. DS2000, or PADGID, do a search in the technical section for stockist and prices.
Then i would probably start with the induction, personly, i would go the uprated element route rather than induction kit. They have been know to kill MAF sensors which i belive can lead to terminal engine faliure in some cases. (im sure i will be corrected on that if im wrong)
Then the last easy thing i would be doing is maybe some suspension, i know prodrive springs are available for newage cars, if they supply classics, get some, then you will have a good base motor to play with when money and IC's allow

get a fmic and then challenge him to a best of five runs on a hot day quite quickly after each other. By the third run you will probably be beating him (unless he has a fmic as well!) as the heat soak on the gtir is awful, much worse than the scoobs

basically your fubared then!! Do a challenge series then. Few quarter miles, and a few timed laps around a track somewhere. You should beat him around a track, besides at over 300 bhp he will loose the gearbox at some stage (unless its been uprated!)

the gearing on a pulsars standard box wouldnt allow it to get to 160.
they were quick in there day, but in standard form compared to that of a current jap performance car, its miles behind in all aspects, handling, engine technology, the usual jap performance car really.
plus, there even uglier than the bugeye.
last year at York, i raced one down the strip and tore in a new **** hole (pardon the french). gets back up to the group line up, he comes across to find out what i had done to mine. Nothing, its a standard WRX PPP just out the show room. He claimed his was running 320+bhp with 280ft/lb. My reply, oh right, then i got a phone call thankfully....
something amiss there then....
