I was looking at originally a used X5 (regardless of the many views of people on this board) but having then looked at a Sportage, I saw the Sorento and have to say was pretty impressed. I have not driven one, and I'm not expecting X5 handling, but then it's for the kids and missus, so what does she really care.
I do know that this July/August, the revamped model comes out so if you are looking to buy new, might be worth waiting. Otherwise, quite a few places have new ones at 2500+ off the retail.
The new model has redesigned front and rear, newer interior and a brand new 3.3 V6 with way more power than the current engine, and a new diesel that has its power increased by 25%. Both seem to be pretty damn good.
I'd have one and most of the mags reckon it;s one of Kia's best products and comparable with many others...

Really nice looking cars imo.
I know of people who have gone from an X5 and a CRV to a Sorento both rate them highly. One of them has it pimpped out a fair bit, black; tinted; chrome and a set of nice wheels and it looks the business!

To get a look at the new Sorento, this is the US site (but still as valid as anything for here in the UK, except for the steering wheel...)

Agreed - ML more now than before. Seems new bumpers fron and rear, supposedly refined centre console but no pics to show this yet, and better fittings etc.
Oh, and the scoops out of the back of the seats for more kneww-room, the old, take some out and make it feel bigger trick tried by all...
Still, looks nice and classy I think, and way way more room inside (luggage space) than an X5 when you compare them...

Why do you need a SUV for the wife and kids? Get a Audi A3 or something.
Kia is owned by toyota so they probaly get some toyota engines. Still wouldnt be seen dead in one though.
Can anybody say residuals?
Oh and its just a cheap mercedes M-class knockoff.

Kia is owned by Hyundai, to be truthful, which is why many of the cars, although appearing different, are based on the same floorplans, although at the moment the Kia's seem to be better designed than the Hyunadai.
Toyota do not own Kia.
And I'd hardly compare an A3 to a Sorento. Half the space, so may as well say get a Mini cause they come in nicer colours!!!!

I own an audi and have driven a sorenta on a weekend long demo and was very impressed, its screwed together very well and gives a feel of quality, it also drives well and IMHO is a great car. I would choose the sorenta over the cayene also as i hate the look of the porker.

My old man's got the diesel version . Had a warranty recall on the autobox ( they didn't bugger about - just swapped the whole thing ) - otherwise it's been rock solid. Nothing like exciting to drive, but comfortable as you like ....

Not an "audilover" to be honest. 30k will get me a 3.0d sport X3.

Only driven one (diesel) with a 1500kg caravan on the back but it felt well screwed together and had plenty of pull even with the trailer.
Overall it's an impressive package for the money.
Not into the SUV thing for gneral motoring but if I needed a vehicle to tow more than a family sized saloon could manage I'd certainly look at the Kia.
Cheers

They are owned by Hyundai and have been for a fair while. Before that they were independent...

Which audi can I buy that will lose only £5k in 3 years??
As far as I know nearly all the 4x4 mags said that the kia was excellent and was better value for money than any other 4x4.

Your right I mixed kia up with daihatsu.
Most cars do have more luggage space than that pointless X5 thing.
Fair enough. 30k could also get you a tourage. Theyre not too bad.

Yeah autotrader was my source and who said I was talking about petroel versions? If the car as next to no miles then depreciation is limited. Cant say the same about a kia.
