Noble M12.....opinions please!!
I am looking into getting a new car to replace my current BMW 330 ci sport convertible….
Two cars are of interest to me at present:
1. Porsche 996
2. Noble m12
I had my heart set on getting a 996, but having read a little into the M12 on Pistonheads, it seems to be a pretty amazing car for the money, and is certainly rarer and faster than the 996.
Do any of you have any experience of Noble ownership, I would be using it as more than just a weekend car, probably every day, but I don’t do much mileage ( 8k pa) as I have a 2nd banger to runabout in……
All constructive comments most welcome!
Thanks!

Personally, if it was my cash, I'd go for the 996. Evo magazine rave about the handling of the Noble, but to be it still looks a bit `Kit car`. Driving position is meant to be awkward as well.
The 996 is a precision tool, thats well made, will last forever, and should hold residuals well for years to come.
996 all the way for me.

Yes, I agree that I stand to get better residuals on a well specced 996 than a noble, but theres just something about the noble, prob its rarity and monster performance, that are drawing me towards it......

Go for the Noble - rarity and excessive fun. Made for the track. Excellent choice for Sunday driving. 996's good but too common me thinks.

give vegantune a call and ask them about nobles, they are the people to speak to.
Everyone I know with direct experience of them, says not to be fooled, they are nothing more than a kit car, and I heard the fit and finish was shocking, and far worse than TVR.

Adam, not sure where you have heard this from re kit car build etc, the vast majority of my reading so far has given the impression that the m12 is far better built than TVRs, albeit not up to regular car standards....

Personally I quite like the look of the noble. There is no doubt it has the weight distribution a lot better than the Porsche, has extremely sorted chassis and is generally a rather nice thing to drive. I'd love one, for the money it is a real baby supercar.
However, I have heard of one or two people blowing them up under "enthusiastic track use". This is all second-hand information at best, so I can't quote specifics or even verify it's true, but I'd be a little wary. 996 you just know will be well built, and if looked after properly will also last through track use without flinching.

I have a friend who went from 993, to Noble, to 996. The Noble, whilst very (very) fast, was too fragile and had all kinds of problems. The 993 was hassle free, the 996 is similar. Plus, I can get in the 996; the Noble was simply too cramped for me. I can get into a Fiat 500 mind...

My mate has had the GTO and now the M400, just been to the factory to order the new £75k version, searched him for cameras and everything !
Considering this guy has been through virtually every car going, it must be pretty special. It does look a bit odd at the back, but he only uses it on track so doesn’t care much. I have only been in the GTO which was fully track prepared with dry sump, roll cage and road legal slicks, very capable car.
