Z3M Roadster or Coupe
These are high on my next list after the S2000 (cant see me selling it but...)
Coupe seem to fetch a lot more and look tough. Roadster looks a liitle gay, but cheaper and more of them. Any thoughts from owners??
Any stats for them?

Both very quick - 0-60 in about 5 or less in most road tests.
Quite fancied an m-roadster myself, but I just couldnt live with the looks and hairdresser image.
M-coupe has to be the one to get, but they fetch more money.

I tried to find a decent M-Coupe before I got my S2000 ..... and failed miserably!
The coupe is much nicer looking IMO .... and has a much better image. The roadster never interested me - poor handling and scuttle shake compared to the coupe didn't do it for me.
Just getting a good one at decent money was - and still is - quite difficult.
I wanted a black one so perhaps I was asking too much.
They are stunning cars - I saw one about 2 weeks ago but on a 52 plate they wanted £28.5K !

Some good ones around 16k ish!
Im not tooooo keen on the side profile of it from the back, but coming from something as nice looking as the S is the prob. I think I just want a car that I dont want to bloody modify, and happy with the poke out the box!
Any owners out there?

Hi
both are absolutely awesome mate i know 3 people that have owned them. 1 had a blue Roadster & the other 2 had, well, 1 has still got his Coupe.
He's not had it long though. It's a blue W reg, cost him about £16k. I've only driven 1 of them, the red Coupe & i loved it. Thing i like about themi s that they're rare as hell & turn a lot of heads, oh & not to forget all the oomph they've got.
Funnily enough both the lads that have sold their's have now got M3s!! They've both had a few other stuff inbetween tho & have both decided they can't keep away from the M power!!
The lad that had the red Coupe got a 4 yr old 911 C4 after the Coupe, mainly cos it has 4 seats. He saud the Coupe wiped the floor with it.
If you get a good 1 i'm pretty sure you will not be dissapointed

watch out for vanos failure, and try to buy one whose warranty can still be extended.
The engine is meant to be on the limit so be careful.
I did a lot of research when I was after one and in the end was talked out of buying one.

Apart from the Vanos the rest seems pretty bullet proof.

I've never driven one but I've always fancied an M Coupe. Bags of lazy, predictable power oversteer iirc. I Like the challenging looks too and think at £15k-£20 they represent good value.
Oh, and don't forget, first refusal on the S

If I was going to get anothet Z and go down to 2 seats then I woiuld want to derive at least some benefit by having the roof down. It will also give you a better listen of that 3.2 straight 6 and your VANOS go bang

Hi Mark, i found one 1999 red M coupe for sale on ebay at £19,995 buy it now. The item number is 4636554657. The total mileage is 39k with FBMWSH, and you could renew the warrenty this month. Price sounds a little expensive to me but if you are really desperate for one. Nathan.

Cheers all!
Will take a LOT to prise me away from the S2000, so not looking to change just yet. Is near top of the *next* list though.
I need more power!!!

i looked into one before my scoob...was going to be too much initial £££ outlay for me though
In hindsight though, i think it was best i didnt get one!! High powered RWD car probably not for me :P
In the research i did, i read about Vanos issue, and also that the brakes are barely adequate and should be the 1st thing to be updated.

Eliot on here has just recently bought one, drop him a PM. He promised me a run in it but have been too busy to catch up (plus he'll now probably want a run in the RS6 in exchange )

I've had mine for over a year now and still absolutely love it!!!!!!
Now i've changed the diff to a shorter multi plate 3.46(still limited 155mph!) it scares the pants off my brothers Spec-c

Looks good in black . Top Marques is swamped with Estoril variants. Plenty with low mileage (30k-40k) and FBMWSH for around £16k. It really is a whole lot of car for the cash.

They didn't do it for the roadster but I assure you the last run (as I say I think 2000 on) of the coupe has the E46 M3 engine, trust me, my mate has one and I nearly bought one!!

All z3m roadsters and coupes manufactured from 2001 onwards are called s54's as opposed to s50 and have the later e46 m3 engine(with a mighty 4hp increase!!!) along with traction control.
