Default Recommend a car for my missus

My missus uttered those magic words to me today -

'I fancy a new car'...

So, we need something to replace the Fabia vRS. We want something new or nearly new (year old max).

The car must have plenty of boot space for a pram (as I'm going to be a dad in 5 months ).

The logical choice would be an Octavia - but SWMBO reckons they are too big So, bigger than a Fabia and smaller than an Octavia.

It must be reasonably economical, with a bit of power. £14k as an absolute maximum. She doesn't like Fords...

Any ideas?

I've got an 06 Leon TDI Sport.

I found the Fabia VRS too small for everyday use. The car has loads of room and a good sized boot too. Its also fully loaded.

I hope you can find one for your budget. I got mine for £15.5K 3 weeks ago.

At the very least take one out ofr a test drive.

Yes.

Why would you want a saloon car, of you're getting a pram? Surely a bigger, easily accessible boot is a definite requirement!

I was under the impression that the saloon equivalent will have a bigger boot without having to resort to folding the seats down...

Yeah I think we need to go and have a look around.

We've also got a WRX, but there's no way kids will be going in that!!! At least, not yet
