Default 2000 Golf GTI or 2003 206 HDI

The Golf being a silver Mk4 5dr 1.8T 20v Turbo going for £6500 (70k miles) ins grp 14

The Pug being a red (dark) HDi 2.0 LX 3dr. going for £5500 (30k miles) ins grp 5

The old dear wont make her mind up and I've had enough of trying to convince her to go for the golf.

It build quality, value, power, room and style against cheap insurance, fuel economy, lower mileage and newer.

And the golf's a bigger car.

The pug is cheaper and still under warranty(??) but is dated and all the owner surveys put them at or near the bottom of the lists.

The golf's 'ok'. more expensive but maybe a little more reliable but obviously older so more prone to problems and no warranty.

The Golf is 'nicer' but the Pug is the more sensible buy if still under warranty.

warranty matters not as it'll be me fixing either if they go wrong.

If she wants economy go for a GTTDI. I had the GTi turbo and thought it was pretty slow and underpowered for the weight of the car although a good cruiser on long journeys.

Pug is out dated and build quality poor. My wife had a GTi180 and the dealer took it back after 6 months of misery it was awful.

Bought the GTI.
special edition with winter pack, full recaro interior, bbs alloys and remapped to a supposed 210bhp

knocked him down £200 as the rims laquer is coming off in places.
