Anyone over 6ft ever tried a Lotus Elise?
Here's the deal,
Someone is organising a day at Hethel which I'd be up for.
There's a chance of trying out an Elise on the Lotus test track.
Trouble is I'm almost 6ft 5, will I fit?
Ta

I doubt it, but worth a try. I drove an Esprit years ago, well, tried to, couldn't get the clutch out, when my left leg released the clutch I couldn't turn the wheel! I'm 6'4"

More a case of whether you find it okay getting in and out rather than the seating position. If you are on the large side, then you may find the seats quite a tight fit and overall the cabin a little cramped. However, if this is not an issue, you should find the stretched out driving position reasonably comfy.

It depends how 'round' you are
It can be tricky installing/extracting your self under the steering wheel if you have strong liking for beer (Especially with the roof on - roof off it's easy)
The thing I found wierd about the Elises is the pedal position, my right leg almost cramped up after about 3 minutes of driving it. Hated it, same with the VX220... S2000 - No problem.
Clarkson did drive the Exige recently didn't he? I don't think you'll have any head room problems...

I'm 6'4" and sat in an Elise the other day (it was sitting in the Scooby dealer showroom) and was surprised by how much room I had - I'd certainly be comfortable driving it.
Agree with the post above though - is that it might be a bit tricky if you've got a bit of a belly.

I must just be a funny shape then, because I'm a slim 6ft2 and could just about get 1st and 2nd gear but that was it. Spent ages trying to adjust everything accordingly but couldn't get comfortable. This was in both an S1 Elise and an Exige. Couldn't drive either

I'm now thinking of keeping the coal fired tosserwagen and adding an elise to the stable. It's more of an idle dream at the moment tho

lol...always funny when people as about head room for 6ft5 folk and someone pipes up "i'm 6ft 2 and its fine"......there is a world of difference between just over 6ft and proper tall!
6ft 2 with an inch of spare room is a comfy drive......and the head of someone 6ft 5 is 2 inches past the roof line!
an elise with no lid and no roof is fine at 6ft 5, with the roof its very tight, with the roof and a lid its not gonna happen unless you are very odd shaped!

I'm 6'4'', reasonably slim and quite supple, and have sat in an S1.
I could get in with the roof on no trouble, you just have to think about what you are doing. Roof off obviously a lot easier though.
I could sit in it and be quite comfortable, but I could not heel and toe, which was a bit disappointing. Whether I or the seats could adjust slightly to allow me to do so I am not sure.

I am 6'2'' and had problems getting in and out of an Elise mkI as a passenger (with the hood in place). And that was 2,5 stones ago in the sportiest of my times with no belly at all (Hello Matt ).

I think it depends on leg length and weight as well.
I'm 6ft, but larger/rounder than most, plus I have very long legs so I struggle to get in most sports cars - cant fit in MX5, S2000 etc, only just fit in an Audi TT. Its the steering wheel/my knees where I have the problem - width/leg room is fine, but the wheel rubs on my knees and make it uncomfortable to drive
