Finally took a piccy :)
3 hours with a new Swissol kit thanks to Fulham and it looks like showroom again, still shocked at the lack of stonechips after 30k miles!
Sadly its peppered with flys and brake dust already after taking it to Silverstone today.
Scalped a 55 plate 911 Carrera S on a private runway near Silverstone, I think he was a bit shocked seeing a London bus fly past him
http://edbartlett6649.fotopic.net/p30341631.html
Also still shocked at how well it handles after a rather 'progressive' jaunt across the A507.

Wow!
Looks fantastic Ed.
My car has (touches wood) sold so after my holiday I will be out shopping
Any regrets?
How much does it take to fill the tank with Optimax, and how many miles does it get you?
Phil

Cheers Dan.
Phil, no not a single regret, quite the opposite.
A full tank will cost around 75 depending on the price of optimax. To be honest I have been having too much fun to measure a tank in miles yet, but averages 19mpg. I'd guess 250-300 miles??? But bear in mind I drive like Quattro GMBH intended

Nice car.
A 997 C2S has a better power to weight ratio & also (in EVO mag anyway) faster 0-60 & 0-100 times, so perhaps he wasn't playing....unless yours is modded ?

Good on U....but I ask the question do u think the driver of the 911 Carrera S really cares ?.............or not do u think ur just a distant memory in his......(and this Audi estate car beat me after I decided I didn't wanna lose my licence"...I'm not saying its true but u can't deny its a possibility.....the stats of 'scalping' don't really stack up unless u've a modded chariot.........never one to assume the underdog didn't....'win' but in terms of value vs kudos how much did u win ??

LOL
I would imagine that the Porsche owner would have cared. I've only got the lowly S4 Avant, but it is so suprising still, when you overtake sportier cars, and the look on their face is saying "oh my God. I've been overtaken by a fridge!"........
The RS6 is just as expensive and exclusive (probably more so) than the Porsche
As for being modded, the RS6 doesn't really need it 450Bhp & 412 lbft of torque altough there's quite a few choice mods to make it even quicker
Be afraid. Very afraid. The RS is more than a match for all but the exotica supercars.

They are great cars, I had one for a few months a couple of years back, but they tend to have their performance hyped (esp on here) like they could whip a McLaren F1. They are quick in a straight line for sure but the weight, steering feel & brakes crucifies it down back roads. A 997 S would just drive away from it, its so nimble.
Around the Nurburgring - actually a circuit that suits an RS6 quite well as its a fast circuit rather than a very twisty one - the 997S is over 15 secs faster.

It was a throwaway comment. I could buy a 991 S tomorrow if I wanted, or a Turbo, or a GT3. But I haven't because it doesn't meet my current needs or circumstances (see my past posts when deciding which car to get...)
You do realise the RS6 has 450bhp and almost the same torque, plus 4wd? Albeit a lot heavier, on the road the difference is minimal, plus I had 3 people in the car including me.
I'm not going to get into any debate about it as, like I said, I really don't care either way, it was a simple throwaway remark, not like someone coming on here to post they beat a Scooby in their 1.1 saxo.
thanks
Ed

having had enough time now to absolutely wring the neck of the RS over some truly challenging B roads, I strongly disagree with the above statement.
Not suggesting for one minute the RS would be better, or necessarily even a match, but I really don't think there would be much in it. The reviews of the RS6 in Evo and on Top Gear also point out that, while not a match in the ultimate dynamics stakes, it's incredibly potent.
Read here too for some of my previous thoughts on the handling.

as I say I have a lot of experience driving a variety of performance cars on road and track, from Subaru to Ferrari and from Silverstone to Dartmoor / Exmoor / Wales so I'm fairly well placed to compare and contrast, it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I happen to own this car at the current time of writing

Secondly even 15 seconds over a track that long is hardly a lifetime...scale that distance down to the kind of road length you would 'have a play' with someone over, and take into account the risks of fast road use and the skill / confidence / stupidity of each driver and it doesn't mean much.
